Lies

Lies are not just words,
They are diseases.
Terrible plagues that cause pain and sorrow.
Lies tear through souls like tissue paper,
And break trusting hearts in two.
A lie is also a parasite,
Feeding off hopes and dreams.
When threatened it delves even deeper,
Coming close to the core of all things good.
A lie is like a cancer,
Letting it sit will make it stagnate,
Will make it a malignant force,
That drains life from its holder.
Lies cannot cause death,
But they can contribute to it.
They can eat away at a persons soul,
Until nothing is left but a carcass,
An afterthought of the person
That once was alive.
Lies can kill,
Subtly and softly,
And leave no more of the person that once was.
