Answer No One's Call

Twinkling softly, they stay
And watch time go by.
They watch all eternity, they see all things,
And they stay, silent sentinels of their domain.
Creatures vanished, worlds destroyed
They stare impassively at all.
They do not judge, they merely watch
And answer no ones call.
They are records, archives of time,
Holing past, present, and future within themselves.
They belong to no one but the sky,
And answer no ones call.
Are they cold
Or fierce or evil?
No one knows or wonders.
Their starry countenance never wavers
And they answer no ones call.
They care not for the trials
Of Man or beast.
They care not for the silent pleas.
They care not if lives wax and wane
And answer no ones call.
