| BASIC GAME RULES |
| The Basic Game Rules found here cover a wide variety of topics, from rules you'll need to follow while playing to information about various aspects of the game. You can also find some good ideas here for how to better your experience and organization. |
| 1. THE MONEY SYSTEM Money is one of the most important facets of life, in both the real world and Termina. The currency used in Termina is the Rupee. Each character starts out with 200 rupees. New money is brought into the game as new players sign up, Overseers give out monetary rewards, and Leaders spend. You cannot find money by defeating enemies, chopping bushes, or anything of the sort. Nothing more needs to be said about money, as I'm sure you've all had experience with its many uses. 2. THE TIME SYSTEM The Time System for Termina is a tad different from that of real life, but this is solely to make the game progress more quickly and annual events to occur more often. Each day in real-time equals one day in the RPG. However, the difference lies in the months. One month equals one year. This means each season lasts for roughly a week. The schedule for the seasons is below. Spring: 1st - 8th of the Month Summer: 9th - 16th of the Month Autumn: 17th - 24th of the Month Winter: 25th - End of the Month At first glance, it may appear that the days, seasons, and years pass rather quickly, but you'll find that it really does take a while for the New Year to roll around. Each Season brings out different characteristics in nature that you're all familiar with. Check each Race to see a description of the weather and climate throughout the year for their territory. 3. DAY/NIGHT AND WEATHER As the game progresses, I may implement a system where weather and sunrise/sunset times are listed on the boards. For now, follow these rules. Weather is up to you to create... if you want rain to come, have rain come. If you want it to be hot, make it hot. The only restrictions are the climates of each area and the season. As for day/night changes, sunrise is at 6:00 AM and lasts until 6:30 AM. Sunset is at 7:00 PM and lasts until 7:30 PM. 4. DEATH Death is a painful thing. When your character dies, you lose everything... all the skill, XS points, and money you've gained, all your possesions, and the ability to ever use that character's name again. After spending a long time working on a character, I understand how death might get you a wee bit pissed. However, death should be seen as less a downfall and more an opportunity. You have the chance to play a completely new character and experience completely new things. If you're insistent on avoiding death, it's wise to avoid Battle and Combat. In rare circumstances, a character might be resurrected, but don't count on it. 5. RELATIONSHIPS In a game that places such emphasis on interaction, your relationship between other characters plays an important role. You can become friend with characters, enemies with characters, or even have a love interest. While there is no set way to keep track of your relationships between others, a scale system might be a fun thing to implement, increasing or decreasing as you do things with others. It gives others something to strive for, to become better friends (or enemies) with you. Here's an example: HoT: ||||| (+1 today... he bought me a drink at the bar) ~ Angel: ||||||| (oh baby! i'm in love!) ~ Firecrotch: XX (grr!) 6. MISCELLANEOUS CHARACTER INFO Each player is limited to one character at a time. When their character dies, a new one can be created. Character names cannot be used twice, though subtle modifications and similar/identical personalities are allowed. Players can choose to be a unique character of their own creation, or one based of a character found in Majora's Mask. Some Characters are not allowed; for example, Link, the Skull Kid, or Tatl and Tael. Your character must fit into one race and one race alone. Human races can cross-breed, and the child retains the traits and statistics of the parent of the same sex. Also, remember to follow basic, logical rules. No stealing from people (without the thief ability), no breaking into their houses, etc. 7. INFO TRACKING One thing you must do throughout the RPG is keep track of your characters info. This includes skills, items, weapons, possessions, buildings, rupees, and more. It'd be an incredibly arduous process for us to keep track of everything every time you did something. So, most of it is up to you to keep track of. For your convenience, a board will be made for all info to go on. 8. FOLLOWING THE RULES As sad as it is for me to say this, I must. The MMRPG is a complex game... you're likely aware of that now by taking a look at the site. With all these complexities, we'd need people working around the clock and annoying procedures everyone would have to do to make sure everybody was following the rules. This simply isn't logical or fun, so much of the rules in the RPG are up to you to hold up. The one thing we CAN do, however, is have Overseers check to see if everything is OK. If something is suspicious, you stand some serious punishment for breaking the rules. Anything you have a decent chance of getting away with isn't going to be worth the risk, so just do us all a favor and follow the rules. 9. SETTING The setting of the MMRPG is not one of the present day or the future. Like in the game, the technology isn't quite as advanced as it is today. This means no guns, no blenders, no hip modern clothing, no cars, no submarines... you get the idea. Also of note is that your character to should act as if he was in this setting. Yelling "WAAASSSAAAP" to everyone you see doesn't fit. Of course, you don't have to talk like "Good morn, kind sir. Where art thou going?" 10. MAKING YOUR OWN WEBSITES One thing I strongly encourage is the creation of your own website(s). MMRPG websites are a great way to keep track of information, while having it available for others to see. Race websites are most helpful, but be sure to get permission (and input) from the Leader before going ahead with the project. You can also make sites devoted to you or a group of characters. You can make a site for your shop... basically, make a site for whatever you'd like dealing with the MMRPG. I'll even link to it from this site, so people actually know where it is. |
