| Chapter 7 Mercedes stared at the pictures. "It can't be," she said. "It can't be." Sonny didn't know what to say. "Is she working with anyone else?" He asked Karla. "Not that I know of," Karla said. "Who is she?" "That," Mateo said, "is Katarina Chandler, or someone who passes for her identical twin." "It can't be Kat," Mercedes said. "Pablo killed her. He told me that he killed her." Sonny leaned back and sighed. "Jason, get some people out looking for Rosco and Katarina Chandler." "I'll take care of it," Jason said. "You can't possibly believe this?" Mercedes asked. "Who else could it be Meme?" "I don't know. Anyone but her." Mercedes stood and began to pace. She suddenly stopped and got ready to leave. "Oh, no you don't," Mateo said stopping her. "And how the hell are you going to stop me?" She demanded. She pulled away from him and left the penthouse. Karla ran to catch up to her. "What was that about?" Sonny asked. Mateo turned to his old friend. "The look in her eyes. She had the same look in her eyes the day she killed Pablo." ~~~ Karla caught up to Mercedes in the park. "Mercedes, wait!" She finally stopped and turned around to face her former sister-in-law. "What Karla?" "Don't do this. I know what you're going to do, don't." ~~~ The man walked into the dark office. "Katarina?" He called out. The chair slowly turned. "I thought you weren't coming here?" She asked. "I needed to see you," he said smiling. "I'm working," she replied. "Kat." She raised her eyebrows. "Besides, I want to help you," he said. "Do what?" "Get revenge on Corinthos." Kat nodded. ~~~ "What?" Sonny demanded. "Pablo died in the bombing. I remember Mercedes telling me about it." "No one knew the truth. It was right after her second miscarriage. She gave him a taste of his own medicine." Sonny's eyes widened slightly. "How?" Mateo let out a dry laugh. "His own obsession." "Why didn't she say anything?" Mateo shook his head. "I don't know. I knew, Karla knew. Sonny, Mercedes changed that day." "I knew she had, but I contributed that to Pablo's death." ~~~ Kat and her companion walked along the docks. Thier entourage of bodyguards behind them. Jason, Johnny and several others came out. Jason appraoched Kat. "Katarina Chandler?" Kat smiled slightly. "So I see that Meme and Sonny have figured it out," she said. ~~~ Karla talked Mercedes out of killing Kat...for now. They were walking along the docks when they saw several of Sonny's men. They both approahced the group. ~ "Well, well, well, look who joined the party," Kat said as soon as she saw Mercedes. Mercedes wanted to lunge at her former friend. "Where's Bailey?" "Somewhere," Kat smiled. Karla watched the scene in displeasure. She felt something that she hadn't felt in a long time, genuine fear. She hadn't felt that since before Pablo died. The man standing next to Kat seemed familar. It was dark and has face was distorted in shadows. "Mercedes," Kat said smiling. "I want you to meet an old friend, I'm sure you haven't forgotten." Kat pulled her companion into the light. Both Karla and Mercedes went pale. ~~~ "I don't care James. I want this set up tonight. No. No. Just get the men here, I'll take care of the rest." Sonny hung up the phone and turned to Carly and Mateo. "I'm going to bed," Carly said. Sonny nodded. She walked over to him. "You will find your daughter," she whispered kissing him. "I called Bobbie and she agreed to keep Micheal until this is resolved." Sonny nodded and watched her go up the stairs. He walked over to the bar and poured himself a drink. "What are we going to do about Kat?" Mateo asked. ~~~ "Hello Mercedes, Karla," he said. "No, no you can't be here," Mercedes said. Her breath became labored. "You were dead." "Were being the operative word there Meme." She shuddered. "You can't be here Pablo." ~~~ Taggert walked along the docks. He knew he'd heard Jason Morgan and wanted to investigate. What he saw though shocked him. There had to be at least twenty people down there. He got as close as he could and listened in. ~~~ "Oh, but I can Mercedes," Pablo said circling her. He touched her shoulder. She flinched. "Still the scared little girl," he said. He turned to Karla. "Hermana." "Pablo," she said nervously. He touched her cheek. "How?" ~~~ Sonny turned towards Mateo. "I don't know." "Something has to be done." Mateo stood and walked over to Sonny. "She tried to kill Mercedes two times in a period of a couple of months." "And now she has Bailey." ~~~ "Well you see Karla, it's quite simple," Pablo said. "But unfortunatly I cannot tell you tonight. I must go give MY daughter a goodnight kiss." Mercedes began to lunge at him but Jason held her back. Kat, Pablo and their entourage turned and left. Mercedes pushed away from Jason and stormed off towards Harborview Towers. ~~~ Taggert was curious about what had just happened. Who was Pablo and how was he connected to Mercedes? And what had me meant by 'my daughter'? Taggert didn't know, but he would find out. ~~~ Minutes later Mercedes stormed into Sonny's penthouse. Sonny and Mateo looked up in surprise. She faced her brother. "YOU said he was dead. YOU said that he wouldn't be coming back. and now HE has my daughter," she screamed. Tears were streaming down her face. She turned and went upstairs. "What was that about?" Mateo asked Jason and Karla. Karla was still slightly pale and shaking. "Karla, what happened?" Sonny asked. She looked up at him. "Pablo." |
