Word Art Exercise Instructions
Sunrise
Bay Grill Menu Instructions:
Open a new
document
Press the
Enter key about 7 times to move the cursor down the page
Click on
the “Insert Word Art” button (tilted Blue “A”)
Type in the
text, “Now Serving Fresh Fish With a Cajun Taste!”
Choose the
font: Harlow Solid Italic and 24 point text size
Change the
fill color of the text by selecting the “Format Word Art” button (looks like a
small paint can and paint brush)
Use the
Blue fill color 6th column from the left; down 1
Leave the
Line as it is for now

Move the
cursor above this text to insert another Word Art choice
Select the
Word Art over 5 spots from the left and down 1

Choice has
royal blue Word Art letters
Choose the
font: Bookman Old Style, leave at 36 point; Bold
Change the
fill color of the text by selecting the “Format Word Art” button (looks like a
small paint can and paint brush)
Use the
Orange fill color 2nd column from the left; down 1
Change the
Line color to black column 1, 1st choice
Then select
the Word Art Shape button (has a b c on it)
This shows
you a variety of shapes to choose from
Select the
“Arch Up (Curve)” 1st column, 2nd choice down
You will still
need to curve the text even more
Put your
cursor on the bottom left and right definition boxes until it changes to a
diagonal double arrow pointer
With the
double arrow showing, click and drag until the words are curved sufficiently
into an arch

Underneath
the title you should draw a circle.
Select the oval drawing tool from the Drawing toolbar and create your
circle. Remember to leave room for
sunrays above the sun.
Change the
fill color of the text by selecting the “Format Word Art” button (looks like a
small paint can and paint brush)
Use the
Yellow fill color 3rd column from the left; down 4
Change the
Line color to black column 1, 1st choice.
Be sure to
change the line weight (thickness) to 1.75!
Next select
the Line Drawing tool and create at least 5 sunrays.
Highlight each by clicking on each one
and changing the line color to yellow and the line weight to 3.0. (See example)
To create
the waves under the sun, go to AutoShapes.
Click on
Basic Shapes and select the Arc from the 1st column.
This shape
is the 7th one down or 2nd from the bottom.

If you then click and draw an arc as
shown here
Make sure
it is still selected and change the fill color to blue.
Change the color by selecting the
“Format Word Art” button.
You may
then copy this item and paste it under the sun.
You will
need 5 to 6 waves lined up under your sun.
Double click under the Seafood banner and then click on
AutoShapes.
Click on Stars and Banners and choose the Curved Down
Ribbon.
Which is over to the 4th column and down 3.
Once you select this banner a plus + sign will appear for
your cursor.
Just place the + sign and click on the screen to make the
ribbon appear.
Stretch the ribbon from the middle left and middle right
to lengthen it.
It should be as long as the text line with “Cajun Taste”
in it.
Select
the “Format Word Art” button and fill the ribbon with Light Yellow.
Next you should click on the Text Box feature from the
Drawing tools.
The other choice is to go to Insert – Text Box from the
Menu toolbar.
Type “Try Our Take Out Menu!” into the Text Box.
Change the font to “Elephant” 16 point.
Select the “Format Word Art” button and
choose No Fill and No Line.
Center the text inside the middle portion of the ribbon.
Use the Center Alignment tool to center the text within
the Text Box.
Double click under the ribbon and go to Insert on the Menu
Toolbar.
You should press the Enter key about 3 times to space
down.
Select Picture from Clip Art. Type in “seafood” in search for clips:![]()
Choose the clip called, “dining, food, meat, seafood… and
insert it.
You should resize the clip to about 1˝ inches
by 1˝ inches.
With the clip selected, use the Center Alignment tool to
center it.

Be sure to Save your file as Sunrise Grill.
