Directions: The following 12 items describe the steps of a frog dissection.  However, they are currently out of order.  Your job is to place the items in the correct order.  In the blank space next to the left of each item, place its correct number (from 1 through 12).  This is only a partial list – not all of the steps for dissecting frogs are listed here.

_________ 1.  Separate the muscle tissue from the organs that lie beneath it.

_________ 2.  Cut through the frog’s skin

_________ 3.  Examine the lungs

_________ 4.  Rinse the frog in water

_________ 5. Separate the frog’s skin from the muscle layer beneath it

_________ 6. Lift up the liver so that you can see the gall bladder, stomach,

and small intestine

_________ 7.  Cut through the muscle layer

_________ 8.  Remove the stomach, small intestine, and pancreas in order to

see the spleen,  kidneys and reproductive organs

_________ 9.  Pin the frog’s four limbs to the dissecting pan.

_________ 10.  Place the frog on its back in the dissection pan

_________ 11.  Remove the liver, heart, and gall bladder

Web-Quest

A Web-Quest is like a scavenger hunt on the Internet.  As a user of a WebQuest, your task is to surf the Web in search of answers to challenging questions. Use Net Frog's interactive dissection and the Web site  http://www.lookd.com/frogs/anatomy.html  to complete this Web-Quest.

1.      How does the frog heart differ from the human heart?

2.      How does the frog get oxygen?

3.      What purpose does the pancreas serve?

4.      What purpose do the kidneys serve?

5.      Look at the reproductive organs of the male and female frogs. How are they the same/different?

6.      What organs and muscles does a frog use to catch, eat, and digest its food?

When finished access the following site and do all the Practice Tests (Frog Tests 1, 2, 3 & 4).
