| HANNIBAL The long awaited sequel to Silence of the Lambs starts out with a whimper, but ends with a roar. Hopkins is marvelous as Dr. Hannibal Lector, the main focus of the movie. Lector lacks a real motive in this movie. His purpose is really to respond to the actions that others are trying to take against him. Julianne Moore is the dissapointment of the movie. She's simply horrible as Clarice Starling. Unemotional, cold, and not at all like the Starling that Foster played, she comes close to dragging this movie down into the dirt. The plot plays out slow, with a cool scene here and there. Its not till the end, that you find yourself sitting upright in your chair, with your eyes glued to the screen. The last 30-40 minutes of this movie are sensational. Overall, it could have been more suspenseful, and they could have kicked Juliane Moore to the curb, but it was still a very well done movie. I give it: 3 1/2 stars |
