| EVOLUTION Rated: PG-13 Starring: David Duchovny, Orlando Jones, Julianne Moore Genre: Comedy/Sci Fi Released: 2001 Length: 104 min Of all the movies Ive seen during the summer of 2001, this one had to have had the worst acting. When previews for this movie first came out I was excitied. I was thinking... Men in Black, only better! That, I should have known, is probably impossible. As it is, this movie didnt come even close. For all the big name stars they had in this movie, you think there would have been some better acting. Whoah, was it ever bad! Horrible! Ok, ok. Good movies can have bad acting. What about the plot you ask. Well, the plot was very promising. Aliens arrive on earth via a meteor in the forms of microscopic critter. Then they evolve...very, very fast. It is a nice idea, but this movie doesn't pull it off. They try to take you in three different directions at once, with the comedy, the action, and the science fiction. The result is a jumbled mess with the lack of superb special effects to make up for it all. Indeed, I came out of this movie hating computer animation just a little more. Rent this one if you have a compulsive desire to see it. However, Id reccomend you show everyone how much more evolved we are then the rich class of southern California and stay far away from this one. I give it: 2 stars |
