Jackson) attempts to bring him answers Willis is initially doubtful, but when a series of events leads him to believe that the train wreck that he survived might mean more than just luck, Willis is dealt with some serious dilemnas that he must face himself. |
| Critique: M. Night Shyamalan's Unbreakable is not the new classic that his first film The Sixth Sense was. It does not contain rich storytelling layers to the extent of his first work, but there is still a lot of emotional depth. Unbreakable is an amazing motion picture. M. Night Shyamalan has an uncanny knack with actors, he brings out the best in all of his players. His story telling abilities are original, inventive and very advanced. These two qualities place him among the best new directors. In Unbreakable, he crafts a seemingly silly, but actually brilliant study of a hero. It tells a tale of redemption through an imperfect, but good intentioned person. It tells a comic book tale in the most sophisticated of ways. It is a fascinating tale of adventure, with a surprise ending that hits a morbidly stunning nerve. Again the ending isn't nearly as powerful as that of his original film, but it is still a real good one. You probably won't see it coming, and it all adds up perfectly, without any big holes that I could spot, at least. It will keep you thinking for a while. The music and cinematography are very nice complements to this off-beat comic book story. The mood is so strange and vivid and well done, and it aids to the story greatly. Everything seems to work just right as Shyamalan works his magic. I can't say enough good things about him. Additionally, I eagerly away his next film, as I hope and know that it will be equally fabulous if not more. review by supernothingman, please contact me for questions, comments at [email protected]om |
