| Plot: Liam Neeson, plays a depressed hitman who seeks help in a psychiatric group. He gets nervous often and takes different medications for this, and often has stomach problems (in key situations). He is at heart a good person, and wants to retire, but has to perform one final task first with carries out through the movie until a final showdown occurs. He finds love with Sandra Bullock who provides him with motivation. Oliver Platt plays a sort of villian who Liam Neeson is going under cover to stop, but mostly to stop the organization Plat works for. Platt becomes an unlikely friend to Neeson's character. |
| Critique: This movie didn't get treated fairly by a lot of critics in my opinion. Yes, it is true that the movie is uneven, silly, unbelievable, and at times out right ridiculous, but I think critics in general focused too much on that. I know, I know, I'll explain. The point is I laughed a lot while watching this movie, and I truly enjoyed myself. I think the script was smart and funny although tacky at times. Some movies you have to not analyze and enjoy, this was definitely one of those. The acting, directing, cinematography, music, weren't so sharp as to amaze someone, but the script was more than good enough, and the mood was so relaxed and silly that the viewer forgets why he's watching the movie, or what kinds of problems it might have. Instead the viewer laughs himself off his/her own chair at times and has a good time. Critics had the same problem enjoying The Whole Nine Yards, which was a laugh riot. Although more well done then Gun Shy, it is treated like second rate garbage because it doesn't aim high. I'm not saying someone should rush to the big screen to see Gun Shy, far from it. I'm just saying be sure to catch this on video, bring a soft drink and some popcorn and have a good time. Additionally, although the plot was highly unoriginal, the scenes that occured within the plot were actually very original and deceptively sophisticated. I recomend this one! review by supernothingman if you have any questions or comments email me at [email protected], thanx! |
