Plot: Chuck (Chris Weitz) or as he is now called Charlie, is aked by his old childhood friend Buck (Mike White) to come to his mother's funeral after year's of separation.  Now without any parents are guidance Chuck has nowhere to go so he hopes his old friend Buck will rekindle their friendship with him.  The only problem is Chuck hasn't aged at all, except physically where the only traces of age are his height and weight.  He is incredibally immature and wants Chuck to do what they used to do, which includes sexual experimentation.  Chuck is disturbed by all this, but Buck persists, stalking Chuck.  Finally, they find a way to resolve the situation.
Critique:  The film Chuck and Buck, makes the false assumption that stalkers are something to joke about.  It thinks at least that in this story the stalker is awful cute.  For those who can somehow except this, the film may not be a loss.  But, I thought it was a mean, and ugly film.  There were no redeeming qualities, and the ending was ludicrous.  Although I would rather this film had a happy ending, which it did, I thought there could have been a better happy ending available.  Chuck and Buck attempted to be thought provoking, but turned out plain sick.
Critics alike have hailed this film, and I'm not quite sure why.  To each his own I guess, but I can't see how they could stand the disgusting elements of the film.  The photography seemed a little amateur too, and I understand it is an inexpensive independent film, but I thought the director could have been more creative.  He wasn't though, and so the film also seemed a little mechanical, and lacking of any passion or emotions.  Plus, it could have used some subplots or surprises besides the final surprise which was disappointing.
In conclusion, Chuck and Buck leaves a bitter taste in one's mouth, and does not have any real point worth waiting for.  While it tries to make a point it feels sick and weird.  Most of the jokes were so anxiety provoking that it was hard to laugh at all.  I highly recommend not seeing this film, as it is mean spirited and not worth your time.
