| Critique: This is a remarkable movie and I enjoyed thoroughly. It sparkled with originality and touching personality. The young boy's adventure is so relaxing and full of stunningly enjoyable 70's nostalgia that it will pull you and shake you around. This film quickly sets us into a teriffic mood and lures us into an unusual lifestyle with a narrator we can relate to. There are no real mean guys in this film, nor are there fake people. We can sympathize with our main characters and therefore are able to be drawn into their adventures and misadventures. The acting is superb all around. Billy Crudup is impressive and incredibally natural. His face says rock star all over, and thus was perfectly casted. Kate Hudson is fabulous and also very natural, and so were all the other women that played rock "groupies". Patrick Fugit is very solid, he does a good job of highlighting normality in a totally not normal world. Frances McDormand, and Philip Seymour Hoffman were casted well and did great, relaxed supporting work. Cameron Crowe perfomered a real effective directing job, and the mood he crafted deserves a real hard pat on the back. The music is inserted at just the right times to further help us enjoy the layed back tempo that the film beats at. This very positive upbeat film begs to be seen. A real winner I highly reccomend it. review by supernothingman questions or comments? email me at [email protected] |
