Rent Wearable Table

Background:

When you try to wear an item, it may fall off of you, telling you that you're 'too puny'. You need to be of a higher level to wear that item.

Far more horribly, the item may stay on when you first put it on, but fall off randomly later, when you're walking about or changing the items that you're wearing. This can happen without your knowledge, meaning that your valuable, irreplaceable item is now lost somewhere. This will happen when the 'Rent' of the item is somewhat above your "Max Rent Wearable" value, between your Max and your Max plus about 7000.
Thus, once you find out your character's "Max Rent Wearable", you should not wear items which are a little above that value, as they may fall off while you're walking around.

Remember: This only applies to items that are worn, wielded or held.
This rule applies to each item individually (not in combination with other items).
For more text explaining what an item's 'Rent' value means and how to find out that value for an item, see Items - Explanations

This Table answers the questions:

At what level will I be able to use the item that tells me I'm 'too puny'?
What's the highest "Rent" value that I can reliably wear at my current level?

Caveats (warnings):

The table was created by making a simplifying assumption. It assumes that your INT+WIS+CHR == 30.
For every 3 more or less your total is than 30, add or subtract 666 to "normal Rent wearable".
(The value in the column "Rent wearable, N vs. anti-G/E" is not so easily adjusted; use the spreadsheet...)
For this purpose, use your INT WIS CHR as modified by the items that you're wearing.
(Yes, that means that changing the items that you're wearing can affect what items you can reliably wear!)

This Table will only give an approximate value of "Max Rent Wearable" for your character. If you would like to have a precise value, if you can use a 'Microsoft Excel' spreadsheet, download and use the Armor Class & Rent Wearable Calculator. You can play 'what if' with various levels and stat bonuses, to see what it would take to get that item to stay on!

Do not fall into the trap of thinking that you can make up a "rule of thumb" from glancing at the table, so that you can estimate your "Max Rent Wearable" from your level. The formula is complex. Use the table, or better yet, the spreadsheet.

Table columns:

"Number of Classes plus Highest Level":
Take your character's highest level, and add to that the number of classes it has.
For example, a character which is Level 5 Warrior and Level 3 Mage would calculate: 5+2 == 7.
A single-classed character, e.g. a Level 4 Cleric, would simply add one to their level (4+1 == 5).
In the Table, look up your value in this column.

"Rent wearable normal":
This gives your "Max Rent Wearable" for normal conditions.

"Rent wearable, N vs. anti-G/E":
This gives your "Max Rent Wearable" for a special condition:
If your character is Neutral (not Good or Evil), which is true of all Newbie characters initially,
AND the item that you are trying to wear is 'ANTI-GOOD' OR 'ANTI-EVIL',
THEN you must use this column for this type of item.
