Monsters:

This section tries to tell you a few things the important or dangerous monsters. It’s far from extensive because I haven’t fought everything on the MUD yet.

Again this is in no particular order so use the Find capability of your browser to find what you need.

I assume you are wearing good gear for this. If you still wear "dime store bracelets" and "lil orphan annie's rings" at level 20 you’re in trouble...

Name: Sisyphus
Location: Midgaard, guarding the chessboard
Infos: Will stop anyone over level 9 from entering the chessboard. Don’t attempt to kill him before level 25-30. Even then it’ll be hard a bit if you are not a warrior or do not have heal. If you flee he will chase you through Midgaard. Flee to the reception. He is worth something like 100 exps and his sword is very average. Kill him for the fun of it ;)

Name: Biff
Location: Grunting Boar Inn in Midgaard.
Infos: Not too hard. Easy for level 20 or so but he is in a nomagic room when not going on quest.

Name: Cityguard and Guard royale
Location: Midgaard
Infos: Guard royale are harder then cityguards. These fellows will assist you in fights if you are good aligned. If you attack on of them they will assist each others.

Name: Elven wizard
Location: Shire
Infos: Spellcaster as it’s name implies. Bash away and get his cloak!

Name: Grand master of flower (a human chopping wood with his bare hand)
Location: Monk monastery
Infos: Will kill you in one hit if you are not level 40-50.

Name: Huge ancient trees
Location: Haon-dor forest, west of Midgaard.
Infos: Good exps. Beware, there are two kinds of trees. Regular and spellcasting ones. Look at them. If their desc says that they are moaning do not attack them because they are the spellcaster kind. Frag attacks, dispel magic and will summon you if you flee. Trees sneak so you don’t see them moving around.

Name: Palmreader
Location: Gypsy village
Infos: (Not verified on Criterion) He usually drains hps away when he touches you in a fight. The loss is permanent. If you can’t see your stats yet because of your level you can go to him, type buy and for 5000 coins (again not verified) you will see 3-4 of your stats. Good to check if your new character has good stats before leveling him.

Name: Ghost of Brackenred
Location: Skexie castle
Infos: Has sanctuary, immune to kick, web and a few other things. Aggressive.

Name: Guildguards in New Thalos
Location: New Thalos
Infos: These guys are tough. I couldn’t take one of them even with full spells on me (sanc, haste, etc...) at level 26/30/28. Great exps for higher levels.

Name: Grand Knight of Paladin
Location: Redferne’s residence
Infos: Nothing special about him beside the fact that he’s a high level warrior. Has nice good-aligned armor and weapon. Otherwise not worth the trip to him.

Name: Grand Master of Magic
Location: High tower of sorcery
Infos: He is a spellcaster. This is already enough to make him a no-no. He also wield the ebony kris (casts paralyze at every hit) making her very hard to kill. You will usually need to sacrifice someone in your group when fighting him so that others can disarm him and bash him, unless your first disarm is lucky. Never attacked him on Criterion yet so no idea of him level (only went in, disarmed him and picked up the kris. This will piss him off and he will summon you until he kills you).

Name: Kervin the wandering mage
Location: Kerofk
Infos: His title makes him dangerous. He wanders around Kerofk all day, often ending up in a room where you are fighting his fellow kerofkians. Often he will assist them and attack you with spells. You can flee but he will keep summoning you until one of you gets the other. A pain. Flee your fight as soon as you see him walking in the room to avoid problems. Resume the fight after he left.

Name: The Captain
Location: Kerofk
Infos: A tough warrior-type of mob but doable in solo around level 30. Beware of his backstab attack. Disarm him to avoid it.

Name: Troglodyte shaman
Location: Trog caves
Infos: I do not know if this piece of code was removed from the Criterion code but in case it wasn’t here is his normal behavior: if you attack him and he survives a few round he can summon Golgar, great god of troglodyte, who will kick YOUR ass in his place. A tough mean SOB if you end up in the same room as him. I’d be curious to have a junk character I can waste to test it out...

Name: Guildguards
Location: New Thalos
Infos: These guys are tough but you should be able to do them around level 30 with sanctuary on and good equipment. Bring healing and have a flee key ready. Avoid attacking them with sultan or royal guards in the same room.

Name: The Blackness
Location: Psycho ward
Infos: I was able to kill about everything in the psycho ward at level 30/35/32. I came in the blackenss room with sanc, haste and a full set of spells on and this thing kicked my ass and was only bruised when I fleed with a loss of 200 hps! I’ll have to go back in and try some stuff on it. Gotta check if it wears any gear too. Otherwise might not be worth it.

Name: Lizzy
Location: Psycho ward
Infos: A mean little psycho because of the weapon she wields (Lizzy’s axe, it casts lightning bolt). Wasn’t an easy fight but I never felt any fear. A little healing during the fight and I never went below 100 hps.

Name: Gawain
Location: Prydain
Infos: Easy kill for a level 10-15.

Name: Mordred
Location: Prydain
Infos: Easy kill for a level 10-15.

Name: Galahad
Location: Prydain
Infos: Easy kill for a level 20-25.

Name: Fat Frank
Location: Prydain
Infos: Easy kill for a level 25-30.

Name: Arthur
Location: Prydain
Infos: Easy kill for level 30 or so but do not attack him with the cleric guildmaster in the same room because I THINK he assists him. A trick would be to start the fight, flee right away and let Arthur follow you.
