Bilge Dice (link)

back to tip page

Here's a quick word about bilge dice:

BIDDING:

When you win, the "NP Today" counter goes up THREE TIMES the amount you bid. Bid the highest you can without the "NP Today" counter reaching 5000!
If the luck is not with you and you start to go negative, bet 50 until you lose, then bet 100 until you lose, then bet 200, etc. If you win at any one amount twice, bet a lower amount. This is a good "building up" technique. Only do this if you go negative, though!

Once you have 4900-4970np on that counter, bid your highest bid. This gives you about the highest amount of NP you can get in a day.

PLAYING:

Start be taking a 4 if there is one. if not, take a 1. If there is neither, take the highest die.

Roll again.

Now, try to fill your "qualifier" section (the 1 and 4 places at the bottom). If you don't have both of your qualifiers, and the qualifier you need hasn't appeared, don't take more then one die before you roll again!

If you have both your qualifiers, ALWAYS take any sixes.

Once you have both qualifiers and have taken any sixes, if you have:
4 dice left - Roll again if you can. If you can't, take the highest die & roll again.
3 dice left - take any 5s or higher, roll again. If you can't roll again, take the highest die, then roll again.
2 dice left - take any 5s or higher, roll again. If you can't roll again, take the highest die, then roll again.
1 dice left - If you can't roll, take the die. If you have a 6, take it. If you don't have a 6 and you can roll, check to see what scores you opponents have so far to find the opponent with the highest score (who has both qualifiers!), and see what score you would have if you take this die.

If you will definitly win, take it! If one of your opponents HAS to get a 6 to beat you, take it! If one of your opponents has to get a 5 or a 6 to beat you, you should probably just take it. If your opponent has to get a 4,5,or 6, it's up to you... you have a 50% chance. If they could beat you with a 3 or higher, you better roll again, UNLESS you have a 5.

I follow this procedure & get about 8,000NP every day. It takes practice to get good & get into the swing of it. I go very quickly now!

Good Luck!!
