The Sovereignty of Grace

By: Orlando Alcntara F. (Cristorly)

Regarding HUMAN LIBERTY, three theological positions in clear conflict exist, those are the Calvinists, the Arminians, and the Universalists. In the same way, regarding SALVATION, four theological positions in evident conflict exist, those are the Legalists, the Antinomics, the Galatians, and the Biblical ones. The Calvinists proclaim as their main point the Sovereign Grace, emphasizing the Sovereignty of God in choosing the ones that supposedly have the privilege of Salvation. The Arminians, of their side, proclaim free Will as their main unstained point, emphasizing the Responsibility of Man to be saved, that is to say, to reject or to accept the Grace of God. The Universalists, on the other hand, proclaim the Sovereignty of Grace, that is, that the human being obtains the gift of Universal Salvation anyway (all the men will be saved by God eventually) not because the human being is good, but because God is the only one Who is good. For that reason, the Sovereignty of Grace captures in an absolute way every human being. The believers in Christ in this life are saved by faith, not by sight; but the unbelievers that die in sin are saved by sight by means of the remedial correction and discipline before the Consummation of the Eternal Purpose of God, that is to say, to create every human being in His Image and Likeness, that is, the Image and Likenes of Jesus, as the Only Perfect Human Being, Unique Model for Humanity. On the other hand, regarding Salvation, the Legalists are those who emphasize directly or indirectly the compliance with the Law of God, be this the Law of Moses or any type of Law that can be extracted out of the Bible by implicit or explicit ways. The Antinomics are those that deny vehemently all types of Law, saying that Grace is completely sufficient to save us without the observation of any Law. The Galatians are those ones that emphasize Law as well as Grace as the requirement of Salvation. The Biblical ones, in turn, distinguish between the Gospel of the Circumcision and the Gospel of the Incircumcision (Galatians 2:7), noting that the words of James on affirming both works and faith are to be taken in the context of both Gospels, that is to say, the Jews are forgiven (implying guilt), but the Gentiles are justified (without any class of guilt). In this way, the Gospel of Paul proclaims Grace as the only way of Salvation by means of Faith, while James proclaims that the Jews have to do works at the same time of exercising faith, therefore they are not justified, but forgiven. And both, Jewish and Gentiles, will be saved eventually in an universal way at the fulfillment of the times. In all this, we see the marvelous glory of the Sovereignty of Grace. In spite of the position that can be taken, finally all of us will be Biblical Universalists. In Paradise, there will not be neither Calvinists, nor Arminians, nor Legalists, nor Antinomics, nor Galatians. All of us will be Christian Biblical Universalists. This are the Good News of all the Bible. The same Good News that beats in each Bible although its reader do not realize it. The same Gospel of Jesus that they dont preach in the great majority of the churches because they are not aware of the magnificent glory of the Sovereignty of Grace. All of us will be favored with the Sovereignty of Grace sooner or later, it does not matter which are our present beliefs. Indeed these are really Good News thanks to God in Christ Jesus through the Holy Spirit.
