Welcome!  My name is Cristina Tufariello.  I graduated December, 2004 from  Stony Brook University in the MAT English program.  I have my Initial teaching English 7-12 certification and my Masters in teaching English.

I received my B.A in English at
Binghamton University, May, 2003.  I had the opportunity to study abroad for a semester in London, England at the University of Westminster.  I backpacked through the U.K and Europe for one month with a few friends.  Traveling was an experience of a lifetime.  I was able to learn new cultures and gain knowledge of the educational system outside of the United States.

I am a member of the
Alpha Phi Fraternity, Eta Zeta chapter.  We have raised money for our philanthropy, Cardiac Aid, and have participated in the March of Dimes.

My passions are teaching, spending quality time with family and friends, traveling, going to the beach, reading, and exercising.

Courses I have taken so that you are familiar with my coursework.

I have always had a desire to teach ever since I was a child.  I love the literature and most importantly, knowing that I can make a difference in people's lives is a rewarding experience I take pride in.

I student taught at
Ward Melville High School (Three Village School District) in two 11th Regents English Composition classes, one 11th Advanced Placement English course, and one 11th English elective: Independent Writing class. The experience was amazing.  I also student taught at Paul J. Gelinas Junior High School (Three Village School District) in two 9th Regents English Composition classes.  I have learned and understood different methods of teaching.  Everyone was very helpful and kind.  I am thankful to have worked in such an inviting environment.  The students were wonderful and made my student teaching semester one in which I will never forget.  I must thank my cooperating teachers for being there for me and giving me constructive feedback and useful advice.

I am currently working at
JFK Middle School (Comsewogue School District).  I teach 7th grade English.  The transition from student teaching to having my own classroom has been exciting and challenging.  I look forward to a prosperous academic year!
