Final Project Proposal
Introduction:
Not enough people dine at Lil’
Vinny’s Italian Ristorante. Vinny’s Ristorante is more well know to people
outside of the area because of multiple spots on the Phantom Gourmet and being
named one of Boston’s Best in Boston Magazine as well as feature articles in
the Boston Globe. Lil’ Vinny’s is still one of Somerville’s best kept secrets.
About Lil’ Vinny’s:
Know to locals as the little
restaurant who brought a taste of Italy to the city, Lil’ Vinny’s
offers an atmosphere as charming as Venice
itself. With its home-style dishes of chicken pomodoro, veal parmigiana or
spinach ravioli Lil’ Vinny’s serves exceptional dishes at reasonable prices.
Objectives of Event:
1) To attract people to fine dining
at Lil’ Vinny’s and 2) to earn Lil’ Vinny’s the recognition it deserves.
Target Publics:
1) Couples 2) Families 3) Friends;
anyone who loves a hearty Italian meal
Research Needed:
Speak with Somerville City Hall
to see if any type of permit is needed to host an event in the restaurant also
to see if there are any rules and/ or regulations to having an open bar. Speak
with Lil’ Vinny’s owner to see what the capacity for the restaurant is to be
able to set a limit to the number of tickets sold to the event. Ask the
Somerville Journal if they will be willing to pick up on the event and announce
the winner of the event in the week’s following issue.
The Event:
Lil’
Vinny’s Battle
of the Chefs will be an event to attract loyal and new customers to the
restaurant as well as an opportunity to invite the media (newspapers,
restaurant shows) to experience the restaurant. At the event the three chefs
will have the opportunity to create their own unique entrée. Ticket holders
will have the opportunity to sample a portion of each dish at a sit down meal.
They will then choose which dish they liked best and the winner will have his
dish placed on the Lil’ Vinny’s menu. The event will require the purchasing of
a ticket for $35 to attend. With the ticket you will receive the sit down
sampling of the three battling entrees, appetizers and open bar for the first
hour. Scheduling as follows:
7:30 – 8:30pm ~ Open bar and
appetizers of insalata, fried calamari, stuffed
mushrooms and fried mozzarella.
8:30 – 9:30pm ~ Entrée tasting
9:30 – 10:00pm ~ Voting of Entrées
After
voting is done attendees are welcome to stay and lounge at the bar.
Press Kit:
Will include a press release
announcing the Battle
of the Chefs and a fact sheet on Lil’ Vinny’s the restaurant and a brief family
history. It will be distributed to the Somerville Journal, Boston Globe, other
surrounding area newspapers, and the local news channels, such as NECN which
airs Phantom Gourmet.
Conclusion:
The idea of an event like this is
to offer people something fun and new to attend and also to give the
opportunity to meet new people and experience good food. It also is to attract
the media to pick up on the restaurant and hopefully spread the name to attract
more customers and receive more recognition.
