My teaching philosophy is that not all children learn the same but all children are capable of learning by using the right method of presenting the information. The key to being an effective teacher is to find what works for your students. I want to make math fun for my students. I will do this by using several different approaches to teaching, such as group work, individual work, and games to name a few. I believe through all these different methods that I will find what works for all my students. I will also show my students that math relates to everyday life. We use it everyday from balancing the checkbook, shopping, telling time, building structures, dosage of medicine and predictions of the weather are just a few. I will encourage my students to explore and research the importance of math in real life. I want to prepare my students for the future whether that includes going to college or having a vocational job. I will provide a safe zone in the classroom. I will be supportive and let them know that no question is too dumb to ask. I will be there for them if needed during class and after class. I will do these things by showing them a caring, fair and respectful attitude. I know there are no bad students just bad teachers. I will do everything in my power to make all my students fill important and special. I will do this by being supportive to the problems in their lives. I will also let them know that I am their teacher but not their friend. I believe there is a difference with a fine line that I will not cross. |
