During art class we did a japanese woodblock print. We took a famous western painting and made it japanese by adding cutouts from other famous japanese paintings. Then using carbon paper we traced it onto a block of wood and cut it out using a knife. Then we took special japanese printing ink and rolled it on the wood. Then like a stamp we turned it around on a piece of paper and that is what came out. I choose to do it in black and white because I thought that it was more traditional. I think it was more contrasting.
