My Corner of the Southwest on the 'Compewter'
Now, I don't wanna burst any bubbles, but being a cowboy is hard work and the real ones ain't nothing at all like those purdy, sweet-smellin' "dudes" on television with their clean shirts who perform tricks for your amusement. Real cowboys are dirty, sweaty, sunburnt and sore and usually covered in blood and manure. Yet, I would take it over a factory job any day of the week.
Anyway, as to the homefront and family I have my folks, my Grandfolks right nearbye as well as one older sister who is married and has two adorable little girls. I also have a beautiful little goddaughter who lives up in the great western Canadian province of Alberta. My most faithful companion is my horse named Continental Shine, who I got up in Missouri. She's tempermental at times, but she's a sweet ol'girl.
My "indoor" activities include reading, writing, watching and listening. I like history books, especially about the west, outlaws and the War of Northern Aggression lol and I write related stuff on here. I like to watch old shows like "Gunsmoke" or "Bonanza". My favorite cop shows were "Walker: Texas Ranger" and "Due South" but my favorite TV show of all would have to be "The Dukes of Hazzard". Some of my favorite movies include "The Alamo" (and I mean the real one with the great John Wayne), "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" and "Smokey and the Bandit" for a good laugh. As far as the listening goes, my favorites include Johnny Cash, Willy Nelson, George Jones and Hank Williams.
I am a religious man, or at least I do my best. I am a convert to the Roman Catholic Church and regularly attend mass at Sacred Heart Church in Cotulla, Texas though I also sometimes go to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Pearsall, which is up in Frio County. I also love going to the old Spanish missions around San Antonio where priests have been saying mass for several hundred years now. You can read more on my religion page on your left, but suffice it to say that I take my faith seriously and that includes all of the "unpopular" stuff.
In large part because my faith is so important to me, I think family is very important. I would like to have a family of my own one day, but so far have not found a girl who is trustworthy, honest and shares my values. Since I do think family values are important, and I was raised that way, I am very conservative when it comes to politics. My family has voted Republican for years and as long as the Democrats keep raising taxes, applauding perversion and laziness, as long as they act like wimps, attack my heritage, attack the family and kill babies in record numbers I will continue to vote for the most conservative candidate available.
