| Mother Nature wiped out 4 weeks of racing at Williams Grove but the wait was great for Cris. With the help of a good pill drawn and some patience, the Advance Settlement Agency #17e stood in victory lane at the end of race. The afternoon started out with Cris starting 7th in his heat. He advanced to the 4th position, putting himself in position to draw a pill for a spot to start in the top 12. By the time it was Cris turn to pull the pill he had a chance at a 2, 6, or 11. Afternoon shows havn't been to good to Cris in the past but luck was on his side and he drew a 2. That put him on the front row beside polesitter Doug Esh. The track was awfully dry and the bottom would be the place to be. On the start, Doug Esh grabbed the lead running the bottom and Cris tucked in behind him for second, with Lance Dewease right in tow in third. It would stay that way for a while until lapped traffic came into play. On lap 14, Doug was behind 2 lap cars and got a little out of shape and Cris made his moving, tucking the car under dog and claiming the top spot. Lance would soon get by Doug for second. The race was on as Cris and Lance would get by lapped traffic. Cris had a hard time getting by Mark Smith for quite a while and then on lap 23 a caution came out. That gave Cris a clear race track. It also put a lapped car back in between Lance and him. Cris stayed cool and ran his groove on the bottom. Another caution would come out on lap 24. That put Lance right on his rear. With the track dry, it was a one groove race track and there was no way Cris was going to loose his rythem 1 lap away from victory. From there Cris cruised to his 21st career win at the Mechanicsburg half-mile. Lance stayed in 2nd with Todd Shaffer 3rd. "These daytime races are tough." "It's really hard to pass and I was really thankful that I got that frontrow starting spot" Cris said in victory lane. The way the track was, it took it's toll on tires and Cris' tire was all but flat in victory lane. "I probably wouldn't have made it if it was 2 more laps before all the cords would have been showing all the way across" "We were very fortunate to make it to the end" Never the less, it was a great way to start the season for Cris. To say you've graced victory lane at Williams Grove 21 times in your life is quite an accomplishment. We'd like to thank Advance Settlemetn Agency, Macri Concrete, and E & G Classics. If it wasn't for you guys, we would have never graced victory lane sunday. Also, we'd like to thank Shawn, Wayne, Todd, and Dan. These guys work their butts off every week and also if it wasn't for them, we wouldn't have gotten the win sunday. Let's hope the good luck keeps on rolling for Cris. |
