| Although hailed as a "welcome fresh face" on television, Shiri Appleby, who plays "Liz Parker" on the new SF drama Roswell, has been performing since she was 4 years old. Growing up in the San Francisco Valley near Los Angeles, Appleby started out as a child actor in television commercials before branching out to guest roles in such series as Xena: Warrior Princess, in which she played the feminist vigilante's aggressive would-be sidekick for two episodes, and Doogie Howser, M.D. She has also appeared in the recent SF film "The Thirteenth Floor," as well as 1990's dark comedy "I Love You to Death." Her character on Roswell is a high-school student who works part-time in her father's Crashdown Caf, a Roswell diner that caters to the town's thriving UFO-oriented tourist trade. Together with her best friends Maria and Alex, Liz is one of the few people to know that actual aliens make their home in Roswell, where a flying disk supposedly crashed in 1947. When not chasing aliens around on screen, Appleby is an English major at the University of Southern California. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Major Credits (film) The Thirteenth Floor (1999) I Love You to Death (1990) (television) Roswell (1999-present) 7th Heaven (guest role, 1999) Xena: Warrior Princess (recurring guest role, 1998) ER (guest role, 1994) Doogie Howser, M.D. (guest role, 1993) Family Prayers (1993) Perfect Family (1992) Sunday Dinner (1991) |
