ABOUT Cripple Onions...
The band Cripple Onions was formed somewhere in 1992 as a high school project by Daniel and Sebastian in Bussum, Netherlands. A singer called Bas and a guitarist called Wouter were soon added, and Cripple music was born. After some years of mainly booze and drugs some actual songs were made by this bunch of high school friends. The musical genre of the band could be summed up as punk-rock, which was the the most energetic type of "guitar-music" the band could think of... Many people came to the Cripple Studio to share the feeling of friendship and love which accompanied this motley crew. But due to personal and musical reasons the formation of the band was changed dramatically a couple of years later. Wouter and Bas left and Lasse (bass), Brian (guitar) and Tony (vocals) were added. This was a a whole new ballgame! With Brian's lightning-like guitar solo capabilities and the Eddy Vedder-like vocal "shredding" of Tony, the band now had the capacity to create not only noise, but actual music. Which was nice...
Even ballads were part of the new musical opportunities! Timeless songs as "Alone" and "Kiss Me" were born... However, due to personal reasons the talented singer Tony had to leave the band. This left the band with a tremendous void. After some deliberation it was decided that Daniel would take over from Tony. The current Cripple Onions formation was thereby formed. The 4-member band became one of the better-known regional bands and managed to get gigs at important venues such as "Hilversum Alive" and "Hardrock Cafe Amsterdam". The band reached the finals of various bandcompetitions in Amsterdam and Hilversum. The song "Smile" was featured on a compilation CD called "Gooise Goden part 1" and the song "Ball Of Flames" featured on "Gooise Goden vol.2" which were both available in music stores throughout the Netherlands. Three demo CD's were produced called "Life Expectancy" (1999), "Just Wanted To Say..." (2000) and "Smile" (2001). The band played together with Dutch punkband Di-rect in 2002 and had a TV-feature in 2003. Unfortunately, Brian had to leave the band because of stuff that went down, but Cripple Onions is still ready to go places...!!!
