10/17/04: High Voltage - Denver, CO

Match #1
Low-Ki/"Primetime" Elix Skipper vs. The Ring Crew Express

The Ring Crew Express have officially been signed to GCW contracts after a few weeks of tryouts on High Voltage, and they had their first official match as a part of the roster against Low-Ki and "Primetime" Elix Skipper. Marcos and Dunn were excited that they got contracts, but they had to be less than excited with the result of this match. The Ring Crew Express put up a good fight, but not good enough as Skipper caught Marcos with a power bomb and put the RCE away.

Elix Skipper and Low-Ki defeated The Ring Crew Express (Dunn and Marcos) when Skipper pinned Marcos after a power bomb in 0:11:18.
Rating: *** 1/4

Well, they may have contracts now, but Marcos and Dunn still came up on the losing end of things tonight.

Match #2
Rob Conway/Nick Dinsmore vs. Team Canada vs. The Italian Stallions

We stuck with tag team action as we had an elimination triangle match featuring Team Canada, the quirky Italian Stallions, and the team of Rob Conway and Nick Dinsmore. Since this match was being wrestled under elimination, it was sound strategy to keep yourself fresh early until one team was eliminated, and that's what Teddy Hart and Petey Williams did. Hart and Williams were the two smallest men in the match, and they let the bigger men go at it. The Italian Stallions would be the first team to go as Chuck Palumbo missed the Jungle Kick allowing Dinsmore to go behind him and hit the German Suplex. A beautiful bridge by Dinsmore and the Stallions were hitting the showers.

Team Canada was in good shape as neither Hart nor Williams had been in the ring much in this match. Conway and Dinsmore have great conditioning though, so they were up to the challenge. Teddy Hart can do a lot of amazing things in the ring; when you have the Hart family name, you have a certain amount of skill inherently etched in your bones. But with Hart's style of wrestling, he also takes a lot of risks. Many times, those risks pay off. Tonight, one of those risks backfired. Hart dumped Conway to the floor, and when Conway got back up, Hart nailed him with a baseball slide. Hart was anxious to put Conway away, and went for an Asai moonsault. The form was perfect; it was the dismount that he had trouble with, hitting the guardrail with his ribs when Dinsmore alertly got to the other side of the ring and pulled his partner out of the way. Hart tumbled back into the crowd and despite Petey Williams trying to help, Hart was counted out.

Rob Conway and Nick Dinsmore defeated The Italian Stallions (Chuck Palumbo and Mark Jindrak) and Team Canada (Teddy Hart and Petey Williams):
x N. Dinsmore beat C. Palumbo via the German Suplex in 0:08:16
x Conway beat Teddy Hart via countout in 0:13:02
Rating: ** 1/2

Teddy Hart clutched his ribs from the first row of the crowd as Rob Conway and Nick Dinsmore celebrated their victory. Hart looked a little worse for wear after that nasty tumble, but it looks like he'll live to fight another day.

Match #3
Shelton Benjamin vs. Eric Angle

For five months, Eric Angle has stepped into the squared circle undefeated week after week, and he has walked out of the squared circle undefeated week after week. He had a tough challenge this week as he took on the man who could perhaps be the best pure athlete on the Global Championship Wrestling roster, Shelton Benjamin. This match had the potential to be a great display of pure wrestling, but the match didn't get to go long enough for that to happen. It didn't take long for Team Canada to make their way down to the ring, and we weren't exactly sure why initially. Teddy Hart and Petey Williams jumped up on opposite sides of the ring. Referee Petey Pluck was in a tight spot as he tried to get Team Canada out of there, going to Teddy Hart. While Hart had Pluck's attention, Williams grabbed Benjamin's attention. Benjamin didn't want any part of this though as he nailed Williams with a punch, knocking him to the floor. Hart jumped down off the apron as well so that Pluck turned around just in time to see Eric Angle catch Benjamin with an inside cradle. What he didn't see was the handful of tights that Angle had. Eric Angle's winning streak continues.

Eric Angle pinned Shelton Benjamin after an inside cradle in 0:03:03.
Rating: ** 1/4

Eric Angle shows once again that he is willing to keep his undefeated streak alive by any means necessary. But the question remains, why would Team Canada assault Shelton Benjamin like this? Well, we hoped to find as Mario Riviera was standing by with Team Canada after this match.

[Mario Riviera is standing by with Teddy Hart and Petey Williams, collectively known as Team Canada. Hart is still favoring his ribs after crushing them on the guardrail earlier in the night.]

MR: I am here with Team Canada, Teddy Hart and Petey Williams. Gentlemen, you just cost Shelton Benjamin his match with Eric Angle, seemingly unprovoked. Would you care to inform all of the fans watching at home as to your motivations for this attack on Shelton Benjamin?

PW: It's simple, Mario. If you want to get noticed, you have to go after the best. If you haven't noticed, the World's Greatest Tag Team are the best... for now.

MR: There are a few teams out there who might take exception to that, Petey. The Basham Brothers and the Hardy Boyz come to mind. Or perhaps Rob Conway and Nick Dinsmore, who defeated you earlier tonight.

TH: Shut up. Those two punks didn't beat us; a barricade beat us. And hell, if given the chance, we'd beat Conway and Dinsmore in a rematch. Hell, we can beat ANY team in GCW if we're given the chance. Shelton Benjamin got a little taste of what the tag team division is going to get if they don't take Team Canada seriously! Mario, you're looking at the future World Tag Team champions.

[Hart and Williams stare down Riviera, who cowers nervously. Team Canada aren't going to intimidate too many people with their imposing nature, but Mario Riviera isn't exactly Brock Lesnar. Cut back to the ring for the main event.]

Match #4
MAIN EVENT
Booker T vs. "The Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer (w/ Perry Saturn/The Amazing Red)

We expected to see a highly competitive main event on High Voltage as we had Booker T taking on Tommy Dreamer, who had Perry Saturn and Red in tow with him. Booker T is walking on the edge right now as he awaits his next opportunity to face Goldust at Trick or Trouble. Booker T was in a bad mood before the match started, and that bad mood was fueled when before the match, as we have seen before, a golden rose was brought down to ringside, obviously a gift from Goldust to Booker T. Booker took the rose and crushed it in his hand as a look of rage came across his face. Booker T went on to absolutely kick the crap out of Tommy Dreamer, knocking him all around the ring. Booker was in a trance as he went to the outside and grabbed a steel chair. Perry Saturn and Red interjected to stop Booker, but both received a chair around the skull for their troubles. Booker brought the chair in the ring, ignoring referee JD Sanders' threat of disqualification. Dreamer was completely helpless as Booker smashed him in the back with the chair. Sanders acted on his previous warning, disqualifying Booker T.

Tommy Dreamer defeated Booker T by disqualification in 0:01:47.
Rating: **

Booker T had totally lost it, singlehandedly wiping out the Revolution. Booker even took a swing at JD Sanders, but luckily he aimed high so Sanders could duck and escape. I'm not liking Goldust's chances at Trick or Trouble if Booker T is in a mood like this.

We will be in Omaha, Nebraska tomorrow night for the final Monday Night Explosion before Trick or Trouble. We will see the semi-finals of the North American Title Tournament with Monty Brown taking on Chris Jericho and The Hurricane going one-on-one with AJ Styles!
