10/10/04: High Voltage - Salt Lake City, UT

Match #1
The World's Greatest Tag Team vs. The Italian Stallions

The World's Greatest Tag Team will be watching the match between the Basham Brothers and the Hardy Boyz at Trick or Trouble very closely as Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin have been expressing their interest in getting another shot at the World Tag Team Titles, but they couldn't look past the Italian Stallions, who were their opponents here tonight on High Voltage. This was a standard tag team affair, solid but not overwhelming. Haas and Benjamin once again showed why they are the elite, working their way to an impressive victory to open the show.

The World's Greatest Tag Team (Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin) defeated The Italian Stallions (Chuck Palumbo and Mark Jindrak) when S. Benjamin pinned C. Palumbo with the T-Bone Powerslam in 0:08:19.
Rating: *** 1/2

A good win for the World's Greatest Tag Team as they keep on rolling. The Italian Stallions, however, seem to be going the opposite way. If the Stallions want to be taken seriously, Chuck Palumbo and Mark Jindrak need to step it up a notch.

Match #2
"Prime Time" Elix Skipper vs. Marcos (w/ Dunn)

We were once again graced with the presence of the Ring Crew Express as Marcos was in singles action against "Prime Time" Elix Skipper. Marcos and Dunn are certainly an interesting duo and they mean well, but once again, Marcos was little more than a punching bag tonight. Skipper is a fantastic athlete, but has had trouble putting it all together in GCW. Sometimes you need a match like this to get the ball rolling in the right direction. Skipper puts Marcos away easily with the Play of the Day.

Elix Skipper pinned Marcos with the Play Of The Day in 0:06:43.
Rating: ** 1/2

Dunn tried to come to the aid of his partner after the match, but he suffered the Play of the Day as well for his troubles. Skipper goes to the winner's circle tonight.

Match #3
MAIN EVENT
The Hardy Boyz vs. Team Canada

Very rarely will Matt and Jeff Hardy go up against a team that can match them in speed and quickness, but that's exactly what they had to contend with tonight in our High Voltage main event as they took on Team Canada. The Hardyz have to keep themselves fresh, but also a loss in a match like this only two weeks before their World Tag Team Title shot would be devastating. Teddy Hart and Petey Williams are a very dangerous team, so the Hardyz had to be careful.

If you like great mat wrestling, holds, counters, and the like, you would have hated this match. If you like watching four men put their bodies on the line in hopes of winning the match, this one was for you. Though High Voltage doesn't have the audience and exposure that Explosion does, these four still gave it 100%, which is a trait that many on the Global Championship Wrestling roster possess. With all of the high risks that these four were taking, it was going to take someone crashing and burning, and that happened when Teddy Hart went for a big dive to the floor but couldn't connect, leaving him prone moments later to the Mattitude Adjustment (flying legdrop) from Matt Hardy.

The Hardy Boyz (Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy) defeated Team Canada (Teddy Hart and Petey Williams) when M. Hardy pinned Teddy Hart after the Mattitude Adjustment in 0:08:35.
Rating: ** 3/4

The number-one-contenders pick up a good victory to build a bit of momentum going into Trick or Trouble. A nice showing by Team Canada, as with one lucky break they could have won this match. But as it stands, a victory for the Hardyz to close out the show.
