8/8/04: High Voltage - Austin, TX

Match #1
The Amazing Red vs. Teddy Hart

Cruiserweight action kicked off a packed High Voltage as two men in need of a victory, The Amazing Red and Teddy Hart, went at it. As we've come to expect from these two, it was a fast-paced high-flying affair with never a dull moment. Both men were able to hit the other with some of their signature moves, but it was an attempt at a new move that would cost Teddy Hart. The third generation superstar Hart pulled Red to the top in attempt to hit a super bomb, but Red had the wherewithal to counter it with a huge Frankensteiner from the top rope, giving him a much needed victory.

Red pinned Teddy Hart after a Frankensteiner from the top rope in 0:09:31.
Rating: **** 1/4

The Amazing Red gets back on track with a win in this one.

Match #2
Billy Kidman vs. "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels (w/ Daffney)

Billy Kidman's tag team partner Paul London has had much success in the singles division as of late, earning a Cruiserweight Title shot against Rey Mysterio Jr. at Summer Sizzler. Kidman was looking to take that same path to success, but he would have to start by defeating "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels here in this one, which is never an easy task. Kidman came out aggressively and tried to use his slight size advantage over Daniels, but Daniels is one of the smartest wrestlers in the game today. He bided his time and waited until the moment was right, and when it was, he struck. Daniels came on strong in the end and Kidman was unable to get back in it, falling prey to the Last Rites, much to the delight of Daffney.

Christopher Daniels pinned Billy Kidman with the Last Rites in 0:08:41.
Rating: ****

The ever creepy Daniels picks up a win. There's a lot going on in this man's head; however, nobody knows but him. This man is just plain scary.

Match #3
Charlie Haas vs. "Primetime" Elix Skipper

This was an absolute dismantling by Charlie Haas. Haas is wrestling with a lot of anger and frustration right now, and although the fans might not agree with some of his actions as of late regarding his former tag team partner Shelton Benjamin, it's hard to debate that Haas has been on a roll. Skipper can do a lot of things in the ring, but Haas never gave him a chance, catching Skipper with a chopblock right off the bat. Skipper was never able to recover as Haas crisply and efficiently worked on Skipper's knee. It didn't take long before Charlie Haas had his excruciatingly painful submission hold, the Haas of Pain, on Skipper. Skipper couldn't take the pain as he tapped out quickly.

Charlie Haas made Elix Skipper submit to the Haas Of Pain in 0:04:14.
Elix Skipper injured his left knee. He will be out for approximately two weeks.
Rating: *** 1/4

Charlie Haas picked up the victory, and to show just how deadly the Haas of Pain is, we won't be seeing Elix Skipper for a couple weeks, as Skipper suffered a minor knee injury. But if Haas can do that in 4 minutes to someone he is indifferent about, imagine what he may do to Shelton Benjamin at Summer Sizzler.

Match #4
MAIN EVENT
"The Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer vs. Goldust

We had a brawl to end the show as Tommy Dreamer and the strangest man in wrestling, Goldust, went toe-to-toe. Goldust got in Dreamer's head early, playing to the general homophobic nature of society by rubbing on Dreamer. Although Goldust received quite a beating for this, it was smart strategy as it threw Dreamer off his game. Dreamer was going 100 miles per hour for the first few minutes, and he tired because of it. So after Dreamer missed a charging avalanche in the corner, it was the beginning of the end for him. It wouldn't take long after that for Goldust to hit the Shock Treatment to pick up the win.

Goldust pinned Tommy Dreamer with the Shock Treatment in 0:06:32.
Rating: ***

Goldust used a sound strategy and it worked to perfection against Tommy Dreamer. Will he be able to do the same against Booker T at Summer Sizzler? Only time will tell.
