"BACK TO THE RIVER - 2002"
RIVERCADE PARADE     CRIMSON GLORYS      SIOUX CITY IA      JULY 17, 2002

We survived!
And in usual royal Red Hat style.  It was a blast 97degrees!  We survived by eating ice graciously supplied by Honey and frequent reapplication of makeup. After all we have to maintain our standards.

Honey and Renee picked up the car around two oclock, stocked up on snacks and drinks and headed for the staging area. The cara spanking new, gorgeous, RED convertible was provided by Charlie Zook Motors.  Red Hat Hugs to Don Krier who was such a fine fellow to work with. The car was ready and waiting in all its Crimson Glory with pearl gray leather interior!  Yes, ladies it is still available to buy for a mere $34,000. fit for any Queen!   We added a sign to each side, royal purple with white lettering, to identify our chapter for the 100.000 people waiting to greet us along the route.  SHARP!

Roasting and toasting we waited for the kick-off. Wanda arrived in a magnificent gleaming purple blouse, with red hat trimmed with purple tulle, quite elegant!  Arby and Helen came next in cool cotton purple shirts teamed with bright red shorts and pedal pushers, along with those famous BIG hats, really sharp.  By this time Renee was losing her fake tan to the heat! Valiant Honey was at the wheel the whole time.  She just loves to drive and what a great chauffeur she is. These gals are good sports, real ambassadors for the Crimson Glorys.  Thanks to Kathy for making this day a reality.

We were Unit 83, right behind us, Unit 84, was a double bicycle built for two pedaled by a Barbershop Quarter, four foxy fellows. Renee took a couple pictures for the guys and was rewarded with a special serenade. Let Me Call You SweetHeart. They sang through out the parade adding to the effect of our Red Hats. Fabulously Perfect. What luck.

We received a very warm welcome from parade watchers; thumbs up, wolf whistles, applause, thousands of smiling faces and waving hands.  Arby and Helen, seated on the back of the car had the best view and were loving it.  We waved until we couldnt wave anymore and then just kept waving.  Our sisters in red, Alice, Virginia, Kaye, Rosie W. greeted us along the way.  There were special moments; when Arbys family ran out to meet us, Honeys family was  waiting with waves and greetings for all of us.  It was a successfully GLORYOUS RED HAT conquest!
