OCTOBER FUN 2008
Our October ghoulish luncheon was as fun as any we have ever had!!! The tables were set in Red Hat/Halloween decor and some of the ladies were dressed for the occasion!! Red Hat Witches were in full force (of course they were all 'good witches'....) Wesley UMC put on a fabulous salad luncheon as always. I never realized there were so many different salads, but I believe they have discovered all of them. After lunch we had songs to sing, stories to tell and gifts to share!
QM Renee asked for Halloween stories and some of the ladies had some remarkable memories of how they celebrated the holiday. Course 50 years plus ago we could get by with lots of harmless pranks!! Some included 'out houses' which aren't available today nor do many of our teenagers even know what an "out house" is... Just think of what they are missing and us too...thank goodness!!! Speaking of 50 years ago..check out Betty's outfit below with her saddle shoes!!
Renee started a Halloween story which was so "scary", it had us sitting on the edge of our seats in fear---and then she had the ladies continue it, each one getting us more fearful of what was going to happen next....until finally...Renee said "and then what happened??" Upon which was the response "And then I woke up!!" and to quote Orson Welles "If you want a happy ending, that depends, of course, on where you stop your story." How true!!! |
