November Red Hat Luncheon
We all awoke to a long anticipated or should I say "dreaded" first *snow* of the season. Oh yes, we knew it was coming but were hoping it would wait for a few weeks or months. We all love to have some of that white stuff at Christmas--but the first weekend in November?? Forget it!! Our QM sent out a Red Alert warning us about the icy bridges and snow covered roads. But since we were not able to cancel the luncheon, whoever wasn't comfortable with coming we totally understood.
Our day started with registration and sign up for 2009 Secret Sister!! Of course there were gifts to be handed out from those faithful sisters prior to lunch--after our Thanksgiving prayer, we had a wonderful lunch! Then our QM gave us an interesting history lesson on the $1.00 bill. We shall never look at a dollar bill the same again. Several of our ladies told us their Thanksgiving stories of different experiences they had over the years!! Above all there was always a 'thankfulness' of the day and times enjoyed with family. We told jokes and of course had our birthday celebration with the official HAPPY BIRTHDAY song being kazooed to our birthday ladies! We then sang several 'thanksgiving songs' and ended the day with door prizes!!
Food for thought:
Where did the first corn come from?
The stalk brought it!!!
Next month will be our Crimson Christmas at the County Club. Prepayment of $16.00 to QM Renee is required!! Remember we will be revealing who our Secret Sister was for the year 2008 and we will have our Crimson Christmas gift exchange--and gifts can not cost more then $2.00--what can you find at Goodwill, second hand stores, flea markets etc!! |
