I initially designed this site for Professor Helen Chang's Fall 2002 Criminal Law class at GGU. I have updated it for her Fall 2003 class. I took the class Fall 2001 and I created this site according to my experiences.
I am not trying teach you Criminal Law, as one of your TAs, I am merely sharing the strategies that worked for me. However, what worked for me will not necessarily work for you.
REMEMBER, this is not meant to be read in place of attending class nor is it meant to be read in place of your case book. In fact, this web site works best as a “check-off list”...
Please visit this web site only AFTER you have read the assigned pages in your case book, briefed the cases, attended class, understood the Professor's lecture, asked her questions during her office hours, and even ONLY AFTER you’ve read the relevant pages from Dressler’s Understanding Criminal Law (a study aid I highly recommend). Only after all those initial steps have been completed, should you visit this web site.
True to its name, this site merely simplifies and generalizes key concepts that I believe to be important. And I reiterate that I believe these to be important, not necessarily what Professor Chang deems important. Most of the concepts covered in this site lack the detail that you would get from Professor Chang's lectures and the case book.
