I have never met anyone who doesn't love Italy. Whether it is the food, the architecture or the rich history Italy has something for everybody.
There is so much to see in Italy you should definitely plan any trip carefully. Make sure not to try and squeeze too much in as you are likely to miss some of the most enjoyable aspects of Italy like relaxing in the great cafes and having time to watch some of the most impressive sunsets you will see.

We arrived on Easyjet and flew into Campino airport which is just out of Rome. You can either take the Easyjet bus - which is more convenient but also more expensive - or a local bus. It takes up to an hour to get from the airport to the centre of Rome.Explore

We have stayed in Rome twice and both times paid what we thought was a lot for very average hotels. Nothing to recommend about either of them other than their locations. Acommodation in Rome seems to be very expensive for what you get.Bari

We took an overnight ferry from Dubrovnik with Jardrolina. We booked it the day before we left and did not book a cabin, which was a big mistake. The ferry was chocka so there was nowhere to stretch out to sleep. It was a very uncomfortable night.Explore

We took a Ryan Air flight from London Standsted to Treviso Airport. Treviso (which is literally a shack beside some tarmac) is about a 45 minute bus ride from the centre of Venice. Terravison buses meet all incoming flights - make sure you have some Euros to buy a ticket because they only accept cash. If you don't have any you will have to go round the arrivals part of the airport to use the ATM.The Terravision bus will drop you off at Piazzale Roma, a vaporetto stop on the West side of the city. To get from there to San Marco the best lines to take are 41, 51, 1 and 82.

San Marco Piazza - Watch out for the pigeons. The Grand Canal - No trip to Venice is complete without a trip down the Grand Canal. The brightly coloured poles outside the palaces are for mooring boats. Each household had its own colours.

Peggy Guggenheim Museum - One of the best small museums I have been to. Peggy Guggenheim was a reknown art collector and her house, set beside the grand canal, has been preserved and tranformed into a gallery to show the pieces she collected during her lifetime. See here for opening times and other information.
Rest:
We stayed at Locanda Silva a cute, and very cheap by Venice's standards, one star hotel 4 mins walk away from San Marco Piazza. It was very clean and tidy and the location couldn't have been better. My only complaint was that we couldn't get the showers to run hot. However, this may have been due to our incompetence - there is a high chance that there was an extra button somewhere that we should have pressed.
