Mercy
Contributed by: euhal
We who have sinned and made You sigh
Do, in lament, For Mercy cry.
It's in our souls to do You wrong
And then, for mercy, sing this song.
With dusty minds and ungainly bent
We make mistakes from gifts You've sent.
We strive to please our fleshly will
Yet through it all You're with us still.
And when our tongues weave a hangman's noose
There You are to cut us loose.
We run around, our shirts stuffed,
And with importance our heads are puffed.
You help us see right then and there
That all that greatness was really air.
We look at our brothers for perfection to see
Then tell them not "To see it in me."
You let us know with kindly tact
That Your Mercy comes with our merciful act.
That when we our brothers Mercy show,
Then we from you can mercy know.
