Club History
In 1994, the Club celebrated our Centenary and one of many special events, was the first tour of a cricket side to Shanghai in 46 years.  On Saturday, November 12, 1994, 22 flannelled fools took the field at the Mei Long Sports Ground against the re-born Shanghai Cricket Club (S.C.C.).  The Tour could not have taken place without the close ties the Club has wih the Shanghai Olympic Sports Federation, and this has opened up other opportunities for the S.C.C., and also for other Hong Kong sides to visit Shanghai.

Also as part of the Centenary, we became the first founding member of the HKCA's Junior Development Trust, with a contribution of $100.000.  A bat presented by David Gower to mark the occasion has pride of place in our Centenary Bar.

The Club has also made an important contribution to the development of the 6-a-side game in Hong Kong.  The first 6-a-side Tournament on record in Hong Kong was at HKCC's Chater Road Ground on December 23, 1961 and was won by Craigengower.  Club Life member, George Hong Choy was then Secretary of the Cricket League, and another member, Mr. Kuruneru, donated the six tankards to the winners.  Shortly before the ground was lost to cricket, C.C.C. inaugurated it's annual invitational 6-a-side Competition.  It was won by Centaurs.  The Tournament is now an established and very popular fixture and provides a good day's entertainment for many teams and spectators.

In the early 1980's, the Club embarked on the first of five tours to the West Country of England, in 1990 to South Africa (as the Dragonboks), and in 1994 celebrated our Centenary by being the first team to go to Shanghai since 1948, and in doing so made the international press.  In 1996, the venue was Zimbabwe. In 2000, we set out for the Tour de France, which the team returned as "Les Invincibles".  We celebrated Singapore Cricket Club's 150th anniversary with a weekend tour to Singapore in 2002.  And in 2004, at the height of the Lord of the Rings mania, we made a lasting impression in Middle Earth with the Woolly Jumper tour of New Zealand.
The Club today
The Club had been guided essentially by six Presidents, Braidwood till about the end of World War I, R. Basa through the 1920's.  B.W. Bradbury until the late 1940's, and Colonel Botelho from the early 1950's till 1991.  "Bots" as he was affectionately known led the Club for a total of 38 years, an extraordinary record.  In 1947, Bradbury and some other members took personal guarantees with the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank to enable the rebuilding after the War.  Perhaps, it is that sort of personal commitment that has helped to develop C.C.C.'s special spirit.

Between 1991 and 1996, with Dr. Louis Hsu as President, the Club continued to keep the early cricketing traditions alive and made a major contribution to the development of cricket in Hong Kong, especially for juniors.  Since 1996, under Paul Tam's guidance, support for the game and the traditions of the past have remained steadfast.
