Grocer's Inning
Although I did managed to capture Grocer's entire inning, most of the photos cannot represent the unique batsmanship of Mr. Rodney Miles (result of a cheap digital camera and the guy who uses it).  Not to disappoint our international followers nonetheless, I hereby selected 2 photos from our collection to illustrate why the Clive Lloyd of Hong Kong has a batting average that varies from 0 to 100 (pending on where you hear it from - the Top Bar or any other cricketer!)
Ball 4: P. Cresswell to R. Miles
Here, Grocer notices the opposition has only installed a solitary slip and a gully (blocked by mid-on) for him.  Famous for his ability to play virtually every ball down to third man, Grocer quickly goes on the front foot to play the slip-drive that he masters so well - a must for all young cricketers who keep getting out from the reverse sweep.  But a swing and a miss (as well as the previously 3 balls) leaves him still on 0*.
Ball 9: C. O'Brien to R. Miles
Let's track back a few balls earlier - seeking for a maiden, Cresswell bowled the last ball of the over just short of a length in order to challenge Grocer's back foot play.  Not to be intimidated, Grocer replied (a la Matty Hayden) with a pull to deep square leg for 2.

Grocer - also known as the Chairman of Hong Kong Cricket Club, has enormous respect for his counterpart of Kowloon Cricket Club.  After playing the previous 2 balls from Mr. O'Brien with textbook defensive strokes, Grocer reckons enough is enough and wants to stamp his authority at Cox's Road.  This half volley on off stump has "hit me" all over it!  Coming forward and down on one knee, Grocer is aiming for the swimming pool with the slog sweep (a la Steve Waugh).  Yet another swing and another miss gives Mr. O'Brien his man.
