BAYARD MEN’S GOLF ASSOCIATION LEAGUE RULES 2008

The league follows USGA rules and local Chimney Rock Golf Course rules.

In addition, the members have voted on the following rules.

League Dues

League Dues: $55.00 for Team Members, $40.00 for Substitutes New in 2008

Dues should be paid by the first night of league play and if not paid prior to start of the second night, then zero points will be awarded to that team for the first 2 weeks. Their competition for those 2 weeks will be assigned blind draws for their scores. If payment is made prior to play on the second night, their score stands on the first night of play.

League General

The league will be limited to 28 teams. New in 2008

The league will start on April 24, 2008 and run 16 weeks to August 7, 2008. The week of August 14, 2008 would be used for a fun night or to make up a rain out date. The championships round is scheduled to be played on Tuesday, August 19, 2008, Thursday, August 21, 2008 and Tuesday, August 26, 2008. New in 2008

Free steak night for members will be on the last night of the first half and a make up night the following week.

General Play

Established members will start play with their season ending handicaps and new members will establish their handicap by playing. New in 2008

Play can start at 4:00 PM and must start by 5:30 PM.

To help keep play moving the following rule applies. If a group is approaching the green or on the green, do not start your play in front of them. You may start your play after they tee off or else find another hole which is not backed up.

A blind draw will be issued to any team whose competition doesn't show. That team will play and catch up closest teams in front of them after waiting until the 5:30 deadline.

If a team can't play on league night, they must notify the other team by the Wednesday before league play.

Teams may play a make up round on any other night up to the following Tuesday night for posting purposes and that if one team forfeits the remaining team competes against a blind draw.

Any un-gentlemanly conduct by a team member will result in the immediate suspension of the team for that day and the league officers will meet to vote on length of suspension.

A substitute becomes the A player or the B player according to their handicap.

A lone team member plays in his position and the other position is scored using 70% of his handicap.

Scoring System

The league will use a 5 point scoring system. The A players will play for 2 points, one for stroke play and one for match play. The B players will play for 2 points, one for stroke play and one for match play. The final point will be a team match play for a 5 point total.

Play During Inclement Weather

Rain outs will be called by 5:30 PM by a vote of the executive board.

If bad weather comes up during league play, it is up to both teams if they play or stop. If you stop play before you have completed 4 holes you can play the match on another day, but you have to have played it before Tuesday of the next week. A substitute is allowed if the round is played over. If you have played 4 or more holes and have to stop you must finish the round from that point on another day. If one or the other team cannot finish the round on another day, the team that shows up wins the points. There can be no substituting players on the remaining round.

Day Money – Championship Money

Payouts of the money will be as follows. There will be day money each week for the top 3 teams starting the third week of league play. There will be prize money paid to the top 4 teams, for each of the eight week sessions of play. There will also be prize money paid to the top 4 teams in championship finals. If a team makes the top 4 in both eight weeks of play, they win the money, but the next team in line will move up in the second half to play in the championship finals. New in 2008

Day money on rain outs go back into the league coffers.

Day money to top three teams each week is only available to those teams playing on Thursday night. (Rainouts can be re-scheduled prior to the next Tuesday; however rain-out day money goes to league coffers)

Day money can only be won by a two member team or one team member and a substitute, not by a lone team member.

Day money tie breaker in a league match – Score card playoff of team net strokes starting with the most difficult hole, the next most difficult hole, the next most difficult hole, etc.
