BAYARD MEN'S LEAGUE GOLF ASSOCIATION MINUTES

April 03, 2008

 

The league meeting was called to order at 7:08 p.m. by President Doc Roberts.     

 

All members presented with a copy of last meeting's minutes to read. The minutes were accept as written.

 

A copy of the February bank statement was read in lieu of a financial report. Association bank balance is $759.62.

 

President Doc Roberts requested that another member be given the chance at being president. John Araujo made a motion to elect Gary Thompson as president. Motion seconded by Jim Lind. Motion carried. John Araujo made a motion to elect David Kildow as vice president. Motion seconded by Doc Roberts. Motion carried. Jim Lind made a motion to elect Rollie Bauer as treasurer. Motion seconded by Gary Thompson. Motion carried. Rick Oenning made a motion to elect John Araujo as Secretary. Jason Wilcox seconded the motion. Motion carried.

 

 

OLD BUSINESS

 

Jason Wilcox thanked the Association for their support and for the generous donation toward the new cart shed. He said that he will install a plaque on the new cart shed thanking the association.

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

 

Discussion was held on raising league dues for the 2008 season. Jason Wilcox made a motion to raise league dues to $55.00. Dave Kildow seconded the motion. Motion carried. Gary Thompson made a motion to raise substitute dues to $40.00. Dave Kildow seconded the motion. Motion carried.

 

Discussion was held to keep free steak night for members the same as last year. Free steak night for members will be on the last night of the first half and a make up night the following week.

 

Discussion was held on setting a limit on the number of teams to allow in the league. Gary Thompson made a motion to limit the number of teams to 28 teams total for the 2008 season. Motion seconded by Rick Oenning. Motion carried.

 

Discussion was held how new members would establish a handicap. New members should be given time to establish a handicap and present members time to set their handicap for the new season. Gary Thompson made a motion to start day money on the third week so handicaps would be established. Motion seconded by Rick Oenning. Motion carried.

 

Discussion was held on the length of the 2008 season and how the championship play offs should be scheduled. Jason Wilcox stated that he would like to see the regular season be longer but finish before September when he aerates the greens. Rick Oenning made a motion to start the league on April 24, 2008 and run 16 weeks to August 7, 2008. The week of August 14, 2008 would be used for a fun night or to make up a rain out date. The championships round is scheduled to be played on Tuesday, August 19, 2008, Thursday, August 21, 2008 and Tuesday, August 26, 2008. Motion seconded by Rollie Bauer. Motion carried.

 

Discussion was held on established league rules. The handicap rule was changed to reflect an earlier motion. Rick Oenning made a motion to accept the league rules as modified. Motion seconded by Gary Thompson. Motion carried. The league rules are attached to the minutes and a copy will be given to each team on the first night of play.

 

Jason Wilcox made a suggestion that the league donate a tree in honor of Bill Harvey, long time league member that recently passed away. John Araujo made a motion to donate $50.00 for a tree honoring Bill Harvey. Motion seconded by Gary Thompson. Motion carried.

 

Jason Wilcox asked the league to donate $500.00 for a fountain for the pond between hole 4 and hole 7. Gary Thompson made a motion to donate $500.00 to Chimney Rock Golf Course to be used for a fountain for the pond between hole 4 and hole 7. Rick Oenning seconded the motion. Motion carried.

 

Gary Thompson made a motion to adjourn. Motion seconded by Jim Lind. Motion carried.
