BAYARD MEN'S LEAGUE GOLF ASSOCIATION MINUTES

The league meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Gary Thompson.

All members presented with a copy of last meeting's minutes to read. The minutes were accepted as written.

A copy of the current bank statement was read in lieu of a financial report. Association bank balance is $1505.50. $500.00 of this balance is donation to CRGC for fountain not yet paid.

OLD BUSINESS

Jason Wilcox thanked the Association for their support and for the generous donation toward the new fountain.

Jason Wilcox reported that he had planted the tree in honor of Bill Harvey. He used a tree from the nursery and would not bill the men’s league for the $50.00.

NEW BUSINESS

Dick Reifschneider made a motion to retain all present officers. The motion was seconded by Jason Wilcox. Motion passed on a unanimous vote. Officers for the 2009 season are Gary Thompson – President, David Kildow - Vice President, Rollie Bauer – Treasurer, John Araujo – Secretary.

Discussion was held on giving the league officers a reduced rate on membership. Gary Thompson said that these were volunteer positions and a reduced rate was not necessary. The other officers agreed. Discussion closed.

Jason Wilcox asked the league for a donation to install the wiring on the fountain on the pond between hole 4 and hole 7. Rick Oenning made a motion to donate $500.00 for the wiring. Jim Deines seconded the motion. Motion passed on a unanimous vote.

Discussion was held on the length of the 2009 season and how the championship play offs should be scheduled. Jason Wilcox stated that he has a schedule to aerate the greens on September 9, 2009. Paul Mailander made a motion to start the league on April 30, 2009 and run 16 weeks with an extra week to August 20, 2009. The extra week would be used for a fun night or to make up a rain out date. The championships round is scheduled to be played on Thursday, August 27, 2009, Thursday, September 3, 2009 and Tuesday, September 8, 2009. Motion seconded by Jim Deines. Motion passed on a unanimous vote.

Discussion was held on raising league dues for the 2008 season. Cliff Verbeck made a motion to lower substitute dues to $30.00. Motion seconded by Paul Mailander. Motion passed on a unanimous vote. Rollie Bauer made a motion to raise regular league dues to $60.00. Chad Verbeck seconded. Motion passed on a unanimous vote.

Discussion was held on the paying of league dues. John Araujo made a motion that dues should be paid by the first night of league play and if not paid prior to start of the third night, then zero points will be awarded to that team starting that night until the dues are paid. Their competition will be assigned a blind draw for those nights. Cliff Verbeck made a motion that dues for substitutes should be paid within two weeks of the first day that they play. Rollie Bauer seconded the motion. Motion passed on a unanimous vote. John Araujo made a motion that a new rule be added. League members are responsible to pay for their league dues. League members are responsible for their course membership or green fees when playing on the men’s league. Cliff Verbeck seconded the motion. Motion passed on a unanimous vote.

Discussion was held on payouts for day money. Rollie Bauer made a motion to amend the league rule that day money be paid starting on the second week of play. Cliff Verbeck seconded the motion. Motion passed on a unanimous vote.

Discussion was held on the 5 point scoring system. Jim Deines made a motion to retain the present system. Chad Verbeck seconded the motion. Motion passed on a unanimous vote.

Discussion was held to keep free steak night for members the same as last year. Free steak night for members will be on the last night of the first half and a make up night the following week.

Discussion was held on member handicaps. Dick Reifschneider made a motion that existing members will start with their previous season ending handicap and new members will bring in their handicap or set a handicap with assistance from Bill Nowlen. Motion seconded by Tim Propp. Motion passed on a unanimous vote.

Discussion was held on teams not showing up. Tim Propp made a motion that a team will earn 5 points if their competition does not show up after waiting until 5:45 PM. That team may play as a twosome for day money. Dick Reifschneider seconded the motion. Motion passed on a unanimous vote.

Discussion was held on all the other league rules. Louis Sauer made a motion to retain all the other league rules. Jim Deines seconded the motion. Motion passed on a unanimous vote.

Discussion was held on adding a page of general and course rules to the league rules. Cliff Verbeck made a motion to add this page. Rollie Bauer seconded the motion. Motion passed on a unanimous vote.

Jim Deines made a motion to adjourn. Chad Verbeck seconded the motion. Motion passed on a unanimous vote.

The league meeting was called to order at 7:08 p.m. by President Gary Thompson.

OLD BUSINESS

Discussion was held on extending the league to Wednesday night. Bill Nowlen made the comment that with a limited number of players on Wednesday, play would be by tee time. Further discussion will be held at a meeting on April 23, 2009 to finalize any extended play on Wednesday.

Discussion was held on calling new members that have signed up and old members that have not signed up, to check on interest of playing regular league on Thursday, or interest on playing on Wednesday. Gary Thompson will call on old members that have not signed up and John Araujo will call on all members that have signed up.

Chad Verbeck made a motion to adjourn. Dave Kildow seconded the motion. Motion passed on a unanimous vote.
