Joe's Response to the Einstein's Theory of Relativity Article

In response to my article, "Einstein's Theory of Relativity", Joe sent my an article by Dennis Overbye, "The Most Seductive Equation in Science: Beauty Equals Truth".

The article is quite thought provoking. I believe Dennis Overbye is a science and technology columnist with a major newspaper. I am quite willing to forward Joe's e-mail to anyone interested. Being as anal-retentive as I am, I will paraphrase the article instead of breaking of copyright laws.

The article is about the uncanny accuracy some equations have at predicting nature. The first example was Einstein's general theory of relativity and the orbit of Mercury. The orbit of Mercury had long defied Newtonian Physics. The next example was the Dirac equation which in 1928 predicted antimatter. When the anti-proton was first observed using a particle accelerater in 1932, British theorist Paul Dirac was awarded the nobel prize a year later.

I've always been impressed by how neatly the units seem to work out in some equations. My favorite example of this is the Bernoulli's Equation which is used to derive the equations for aircraft lift and drag.
