The plot picks up where Friday left off: Craig must leave the hood following a street fight that occurred in the end of the original. His cowardly but wise father tells him to move in with rich relatives, but Craig finds out the suburbs aren't as safe as advertised. Despite a script full of holes, this is entertaining. |

Galaxy Quest (Telesync)

Trekkies and other sci-fi TV aficionados couldn't ask for a much better cinematic stocking stuffer than DreamWorks' breezy, cheesy, and unabashedly affectionate space spoof Galaxy Quest. These are the voyages of the NSEA Protector. Its two-hour mission is little more than to boldly (and humorously) go where many a stand-up comic has gone before, but director Dean Parisot and screenwriters Robert Gordon and David Howard strike that rare balance between satire and celebration that allows fans to be both the butt of the joke and in on it at the same time. Not that it matters whether you know a phaser from a laser — Trek-heads will laugh hardest, but there are plenty of yuks for the uninitiated as well. |
