Upcoming Events:

1) Arielle is teaching at “University of Scouting” on March 8, 2008.

 

2) The crew decided to do the do the Pamlico Seabase this summer (http://www.pamlicoseabase.org/index.html ) in place of the rafting/climbing trip.  Pamlico offers a package similar to the “Keys Adventure” at Sea Base in Florida call the OBX Adventure (Outer Banks Adventure). The fee is considerable less at $325 per person and we can drive to the location.  Mr. Coffelt has reserved the week of July 6-12, 2008 and will be covering the deposit $50 deposit per person.  Please reimburse Mr. Coffelt in a timely manner.  Note that the maximum crew size for this trip is 8 people.  At this time we have 7 committed (Dale, Lee, Todd, Ashleigh, Arielle, Doug and Colin.)   We will fill the last position on a first come first serve basis.  The maximum is strictly enforced by the facility.  All participants are required to be registered with BSA.  Balance is due my mid April 15 along with a class 3 physical.

 

3) Wilderness First aid:  Dale and Todd are registered for the March 8-9, 2008 course. 

 

4) The crew is looking at doing a caving event for the November 2008 activity with the Troop.  The crew will take the lead and establish a date and location.  Note: contact was made with Alan Maddox, the leader that was involved with the caving activity at last year’s Venturing Quest.  Dale is looking at Crystal Grottoes in Boonsboro MD near Sharpsburg.

 

5)  Todd is looking at an introduction to SCUBA course that cost about $10 and a climbing wall (end of March).  Dates have not been determined.

 

6) Mr. Dale called and emailed about a possible spring break trip to Timberline for $79, but is not have much luck making contact.

 

7) Venture Quest April 11-13: Is the crew interested in going?  The district Ad-Venturee is April 4-6 and the troop is back packing Catoctin April 18-20.

 

8) Looking at doing a climbing wall the last Thursday in March.  The cost is about $15 in Columbia and $31 at Earth Treks for a longer session.

 

9) Mr. Dale is looking for a shot gun date in early May.

 

Fundraising:

1) “Krispy Kreme”: Most of the 50 cards were sold. There are only a few outstanding.  We need to wrap up this fundraiser.

 

2) Chick-fil-A: We are going to schedule for February 28 from 6-8.  A flyer has been distributed.  Make sure you email your friends, family, co-workers, etc.

 

3) We may still want to contact, the Kwanis, Elk Club, Rotary Club, etc to see if they have any upcoming events that we can work.  Matt’s grandfather belongs to an Elk Lodge in Dundalk. He is going to talk to his grandfather. No updates.

 

4) Toys “R” Us fundraiser are on hold pending corporate decision to let scout groups at their stores. No updates.

 

5) Chee Burger, Chee Burger:  Ashleigh still needs to make contact.

 

Elections:

The crew voted to keep the following positions for another six months; President (Ashleigh), VP Programming (Arielle), VP Administration (Doug), Treasurer (Tassia), Secretary (Dale will take over).  Colin was voted in as the new Troop Liaison.

 

“Venturee”:

1) The spring Camp-O-Ree / Venturee is scheduled for April 4-6. 

 

2) Venture Quest is April 11-13.  Who is interested in going?

 

Announcements:

1) Mr. Todd talked to Tammy Cinnato to see if she is available to recertify CPR.  She will do a Sunday but would prefer a week night.  We need to talk to the troop to see if they want to recertify.

 

Upcoming meeting:

Next meeting is February 24 at Hebron House

 

Ashleigh is tasked with finding a fun activity for the crew on meeting after the mall show.
