The
current treatment of Induratio Penis Plastica ( IPP ) is mainly
based on the use of orgoteine which provokes several adverse side
effects ; aim of this work is to evaluate the clinical efficacy
of an original therapeutic association made by CO2 LLLT, Diode
Laser and computerized electrotherapy. Hundred male patients (age
40-72 years) affected by I.P.P. of different severity where enrolled
in the study ; all patients were monitored with picturs taken
in the erection phase at fixed time interval. The treatment consisted
of consecutive irradiation with CO2 LLLT every day for 2-3 weeks,
in scanning mode giving a total energy per session ranging from
0,001 to 0,005 Watt/cm2; the Diode Laser was used at 12 Watt with
wave length of 632,8 nm and frequency of 800 Hz giving a total
energy /per session of 200 Joule. Electrotherapy was set 12 Hz
using rectangular waves Schwallinger 2 type. Of the total hundred
patients, 58 showed optimal results with complete regression of
the disease ; 33 patients showed acceptable results, while in
9 case where no improvement. Te best results were obtained when
the treatment was started in the first, acute phase of the disease.
Laser therapy increases the microcirculation and exerts a clear
anti infiammatory action with no negative side effects. This therapeutic
association seems to have a real clinical value in a disease where,
up today, there are poor alternatives.
This kind of treatment has been proved effective with a number
of other patients beyond the initial phase of study.
