
ELEFTHERIA WINTERS (President)
Mrs. Eleftheria Winters is the president of the Pancretan Association of Greater San Antonio which is a chapter of the Pancretan Association of America.
She was born in Iraklion Crete Greece, and she is married to retired United States Air Force Sergeant John A. Winters. They have two lovely daughters Alaina and Popi, and three wonderfull grand children, Edward John, Angela Marie, and Michael Andrew.
Mrs. Winters has been a very active member in the community thought out her husband's carrier with the Air Force. She has served as Secretary of the Parish council, Vice President and President of various organizations including the Daughter's of Penelope. She also established The Hellenic Women Club at Fairfield California in 1982. She served as a Sunday school teacher and she has been a long time member of the Philoptohos organization. Presently she is pursuing her degree in Computer Science specializing in Multimedia Technology.
When She talks about it she smiles and says: I haven't had the opportunity to go to college when I was younger, I was to busy raising a family and keeping up with life's demands, but one of these days I will be the most educated yiayia (grandma). She firmly believes that education is very important and she encourages everyone to pursue it.
She says: We are proud of our heritage, first of being from the Great Country of Greece and second from the Great Island of Crete.
Her goal as a president of ARIADNE Chapter of the Pancretan Association of Greater San Antonio and as a member of the Sant Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church is to promote good will through out the community and the parish, to maintain the Greek culture, customs, and religious beliefs, to be able to teach Greek history and the Greek language to the young children, and be part of an exceptional group of people that will promote good will and fellowship through out the community.
