The newest (1998) book on Mastiffs by long-time breeder deedee Andersson. Provides history, selection, training, breeding. 320 pages.

The Complete Mastiff

Well-written and informative by British breeders Betty Baxter and David Blaxter. Good section on history and raising/training information.

Grandeur and Good Nature - The Character of the Mastiff

Champions

The first book by Joan Hahn produced sometime in the 1980's. This has been out of print for some time and will probably not be reprinted. Another wonderful coffee table book.

The History & Management of the Mastiff

A collaboration by British breeder Betty Baxter and American breeder Patricia Hoffman. Last I knew this was out of print. Written sometime after 1984 as last historical references are for that period. The Complete Mastiff continues with the '90's. Excellent reference book if you can find it.

The Mastiff & Bullmastiff Handbook

Ultimate Book of Mastiff Breeds

Both books by British Bullmastiff breeder and international judge of mastiffs and bullmastiffs. The first one has some good history. I have not read the second.

The Mastiff

Written in 1978 by Marie Moore, this has some good history and pictures. Other books have more in-depth information, history and pictures.

AKC Mastiff Video

Excellent presentation of the breed standard as seen in various dogs. Good for anyone wanting to learn correct type and movement.
