17.2 Modifying a graphic

You can position a graphic on a page by selecting it and moving it. Cropping hides part of the picture you do not want to see. Resizing will make the graphic bigger or smaller. It keeps the proportion between width and height. Distorting changes the appearance and balance of a graphic. Distorting may involve stretching, tilting, flipping and rotating the picture.

True or False? Write out the true sentences and change the false sentences so that they are true.

All graphics programs allow you to position a graphic anywhere on the page.

In a drawing program you can select a region by using a special tool such as a selection rectangle or lasso.

In a painting program you use the selection arrow to choose an object by clicking the interior or border of the object.

Most drawing programs allow you to select multiple objects to make the same change to several objects.

Cropping will make a graphic smaller or bigger.

Cropping does not delete parts of a picture.

Resizing keeps the proportions between the height and width the same.

Distorting changes the appearance and balance of a graphic.

Tilting a graphic changes its size and the proportions between height and width.

The rotate command allows you to spin the graphic or object a certain number of degrees.
