12.4 Applications
Applications of intelligent systems include artificial vision, robotics, expert systems and natural languages. Artificial vision can be used in security to screen faces or fingerprints. Expert systems are a knowledge base. There is an inference engine which reasons using facts, assumptions, theories and rules. MYCIN and CADUCEUS are expert systems used by doctors to diagnose diseases. Natural languages are the languages that humans speak. Problems in translating between languages are being overcome by using intelligent systems.
