| definition of the so-called friend Like a lamp along your distant journey or a light upon your life Your friends will remain at your side through all your toils and strife But be careful of who you trust or you might wind up flat Dont over exaggerate your faults be sure that theyll attend to that You see, friends arent always good sometimes they turn without warning Theyll turn your life inside out and leave you broken and mourning What are you to do? Who is with you now? You know you have to go on but you just dont know how Whos going to be with you through the thick and thin Guess youll have to figure it out yourself but be sure not to give in You say they dont really know you until theyve walked a mile in your shoes but now theyre a mile away with your footwear and youre the one to lose Now people see whats left of you your crazy, curb-kicking attitude The one who was once so joyful is now so apathetic and rude If you only would have protected yourself you would have saw this come But you went on like foolish Icarus and now you feel so dumb No more sympathy for you its time to get on your way Youll soon find another friend and probably get let down again someday This kind of thing happens theres nothing you can do about it But it will get better someday, somehow but as for the present, just dont quit........ |
