Blind Eyes Open

I walked into this restaurant
To see what destiny had to sell
I was met by a young debutante
Whose story was easy to tell
I looked at the rest of the people in the diner
And each was an open book
A hard-bound tome and nothing finer
That could be read with just one look
There was a man sitting alone at a table
He looked at me and gave a smirk
Though his friendly gesture was just a fable
For he had just been laid off of work
And all the others had similar tales
Which no one will ever hear
Like a grain of sand or one of a fishs scales
Their story is so minuscule and mere

Everyone there was so wrapped tight
In a life of their very own
But none of them ever saw the light
Or else they might have known
There lives are so insignificantly small
In the vast infinity of the earth
In the cycle of life they mean nothing at all
But the empty sack of their own self-worth

All beings follow a path
It continues without a bend
A simple stone-etched epitaph
Continues until the worlds end
The simplicity of our world is a story unknown
If only everyone could see
The somber truth of our very own
Is right here for all to be
Free for the taking the truth is held out to you
Will you take it or leave it be?
Dont look to others for what to do
For they are simplistic too youll see

Each day a person rises from rest
Their cycle begins right away
This is a basic routine at best
But we call it another day
They continue like they normally do
Consume sustenance when necessary
They go about without a clue
What little burden they carry
Compared to the rest of the universe were so tiny
The smallest specks, how do we fit in?
Shy from sour, intrigued by things that are shiny
Were predictability on the head of a pin

I took one more look around the room
Everything was so simple to me now
I finally understood, without gloom
If I could only show everyone, but how?
But I finally saw the big picture celestiality drew
Simple ways and a golden sun
But my simple life was not yet through
In fact, it had just begun
Disconnected in my ways
From the umbilical cord of mother earth
Floating away for many days
Thru my fermentational rebirth
The wisdom of age comes to those who invite
The knowledge unknown unfurled
But I climb a hill and scream into the night
Im one step ahead of you World!
