GRANT
Jane Gauld (1851-1888) wife of Gordon Alexander Reid of West
Rinmore and mother of William Gordon Reid of Shannoch. Jane was born at
Blackmill, Logie Coldstone to George Grant and Mary Fyfe. She moved
around 1865 to Ardler Farm in Glenkindie with her family and married Gordon
November 5th 1870 in Glenbuchat. After the wedding they moved to West Rinmore
Farm, Glenkindie. Jane died on 3rd January 1888 three days after the
birth of her 9th child, daughter Georgina Grant Reid. The cause of
death was pyoemia, or blood poisoning.
George (1809-1892) father of Jane, was born on 21st February in
Logie Coldstone to Isaac Grant and his wife Jean Gauld. Married Mary
Fyfe 21st February 1850 and in addition to Jane had a further 9
children. Died at Aboyne.
William Isaac (1767-?) Born in Midmar and known as Isaac, father
of George and grandfather of Jane Gauld Grant. Married Jean Gauld
on 19th December 1782. 6 children

death of his father Gordon followed by his brother Alexander who farmed
Tollafraike for over 40 years.

and Jean Horn. He married Isabella Tough on June 26th 1869, two years
after the birth of their first child Margaret and three months before the
birth of their 2nd Alexander. At the time of the wedding Harry's address was
Balquharn, Tullynessle. In the 1881 census he is living at Smithy's
Croft, where is is a blacksmith and crofter of 6 acres. He died 7th April 1883
at Smithy's Croft

a crofter's daughter living at Backstone, Kildrummy. Later lived with
Alexander (Sandy) who was blacksmith at the Smiddy, Muir of Breda. Finally
moved to Beech Cottage, Breda in 1913 with eldest daughter Maggie and
granddaughter Jean, after the death of Jean's father Harry Nicol from a
gastric ulcer. Died here 28th April 1933
