Disclaimer: Someone else owns it all

Author's Note: Found this story by accident somewhere deep in my puter. Forgot about it...lol
The story was orginally written for the "Here an R, there an R" contest at Voyager Central in February
this year. We removed all R's from my Relief-story for that.
Had sooooo much fun with this conspiracy, KJ! Thank you!  ;-)

Captain Janeway slowly got up off the command seat.  Behind, the staff left deck one and she
listened to the lift open and close again.  She was alone now, she had told them to assemble in bay
two.  Janeway took a few steps up and looked at the view intently.  When she stopped, a hand
clutched the post, which sectioned off the conn.  She had not given up hope in all this time, and now
the moment she had awaited so long had finally come.  They had made it.  The ship was home. She
continued to watch the view, hypnotize by the well-known blue, white and tan shades of the planet.
Feelings of joy flooded Janeway’s body and captivated all senses.  Eyes closed, head bent back she
gave a deep sigh.  But it was something else, something besides the feeling of joy. The thing that
meant the most pain, all this time, now made its way to the top.  Being captain, she was always
accountable, the condition of the ship and most of all it’s people.  The weight, without Fleet’s
assistance, of always having to make the decisions needed to get home, not only lay heavy on
Janeway’s head, but also made life lonely and gave a person a guilty conscience. The sight of this
planet took away this weight and the feeling of solace made the captain’s body shake softly.  She
opened the misty blue eyes again and a few salty beads flowed down pink cheeks, unchecked.  She
didn't notice that someone had stepped close behind.  Only when she felt the touch of his two hands,
did she wince, then eased immediately when she sensed, without facing back, who stood behind.
The hands finally moved so that she faced him, and she looked up into the dusky eyes of Chakotay.
He smiled and his thumb gently wiped away the dampness.

"You've taken us home.  Thank you, Kath."  He spoke softly and slowly, bending down to kiss soft
lips.  When he took his lips away, new wetness slipped down those cheeks.  Sobbing she allowed
the tight but gentle hug.  She clung to him as he mutely gave all the time she needed to let out, the
feelings she always silenced as captain...
